Ok. Two days later... Had a taste for fries and Donut Hole has some on the menu. Disco fries and Hot Digity Dog. And donuts: chocolate angel and toasted coconut. And coconut cake! Yummy gravy and cheese on the fries. Real grated cheese, not that soupy stuff. Not overly salt either. Delicious. The hotdog! Chili, cheese, onion and sauerkraut. Real chili (not meat sauce) with chunks of tomatoes and beans and ground beef. The bun is house made. Niah was a great server and hostess for our meal twice in a row. Thank you!
Update June 30, 2024... Only 6 months later... It's a little after 5pm the Sunday before July 4. Plenty of seats available. We keep coming back and trying to figure out something different to order again. The menu prices are updated in the pictures too. Still worth it. Coffee, black. Better than the box stores. The restaurant is a little worn and may need a little TLC to make it look a little more presentable to patrons, but the food makes up for it. And you're going to be close to the beach, so it'll be a little worn anyway because of the sand and salty air. Texas sweet potato pancakes with praline sauce. And Patty Melt with a side of hollandaise. A little bit of Texas and Louisiana right here in Florida. FYI...put about 5 butters in the warm sauce and then dip your pancake bites... oh boy. The Sweet potato flavor is subtle, so you don't have to be scared of too heavy of a pancake. They are still light and fluffy...huge though. The pecans in the praline sauce are a little soft for my personal likes, I enjoy a little crunch in my pecans). How is a fella supposed to eat all three of these pancakes? I have breakfast for tomorrow! The Patty Melt comes on rye bread, so the flavor of the rye is certainly there. It comes with cheese and grilled onions, so you'll want to add a sauce or condiment (please don't overdo on the catchup, that'll mask the flavor...and that's just an opinion). And the fries here are always a hit. Even after "finishing" a meal we can still nibble on them. They're like the ones mom always cooked back home. Catchup or not, tasty. Looks like we'll be back.
Update: 12-29-2023... Senior Benny: 2 poached eggs on English muffin, topped with bacon, salsa, Cheddar cheese, sour cream, served with hash browns. Crab meat Benedict. Coffee. Wow... a little different than last year. This is after Christmas and before New Year's. A Friday early afternoon and the place is hopping. Lots of chatter and laughs and folks enjoying a meal. Take your time when you come. The staff will take care of you, so be sure to be polite. Smile. Enjoy. It's worth the wait. Topped it off with a Bavarian cream filled donut!
Update: 12-23-22... Arrived before the rush... Well, it's close to Christmas, so there were plenty of seats available on a Friday evening. And it's unusually cold in Florida. Golly! Tonight we enjoyed the corned beef hash as usual. It's so good. Wow. And the special was chicken and waffle. I enjoy Chik-fil-a and Zaxbys, but this was fried to a different taste than those. YUM! Perfect amount of crunch and tender chicken. There were four pieces, so dont let the picture fool you. It was as good as it should be...and I'd certainly order it again. The Donut Hole in San Destin is always a treat when camping at TopSail Hill Preserve or Grayton Beach. (Or any time your passing through!) Hot coffee, open face roast beef with fries, and corned beef hash with two eggs and hollandaise sauce. The roast beef was excellent; sliced thin skin the gravy can soak into the meat and bread. The mushrooms with onions...yum Recommendable. Corned beef was big chunks, so were the potatoes. Eggs over easy. This location is a little quieter than the one near the Harbor Walk... and just as delicious. We may just have to come back for breakfast! Open 6am-10pm. Reasonably priced too. You don't have to break the bank to have a delicious meal. If you saved up a little, splurge for cheesecake! Goodness. Take some home too. Had to add a creamy danish before leaving since the coffee...
Read moreVisited Destin for the first time and everyone (and I mean everyone) told us we had to go to this place. Contrary to the name it was much more than just donuts and had a full menu of southern breakfast foods and lunch as well. After our meal we went up to pay and were able to get donuts to go. Really wanted to try the apple fritters but they were sold out by the time we got there (which was about 9am). We got an old fashioned, sour cream, devils food, Boston cream, maple glaze, and their famous red velvet. My favorites by far were the maple and the Boston cream! The Boston cream was AMAZING, the filling was so smooth and almost luxurious. Maple glaze donut was soft and full of maple flavor without being overly sweet. The red velvet featured a cream cheese frosting which was also good (I'm just not a huge red velvet fan personally. If you are, I'd highly recommend this). The sour cream was also reeeaally good. Surprisingly good, really good texture and flavor with just the right bite between the glazed outer donut and the soft cake inside. We took the donuts home and took a bite out of each to try lol. At the actual restaurant my daughter got the chocolate chip pancake which was GINORMOUS, as big as the plate and loaded w chips, she also got bacon and scrambled eggs of which she could only eat a couple of bites due to the size of the pancake! Husband got the "diet" platter--biscuits split in half with eggs, sausage patty, Hash browns and covered in cream gravy. He said the way they built it was perfect bc you got a bite of everything with every forkful. He was SO full however he couldn't even look at the donuts 😂. I had a fried egg, toast and bacon with a side of sausage gravy. The gravy. Omg. Salty, sausage. Pepper. Amazing. I would probably eat it w a spoon and not feel bad about it 😩 it was so good! The table beside us had the biscuit and gravy platter and it looked amazing too! Also all the portions were HUGE. You will not leave hungry, but you may have to take your donuts to go and roll...
Read moreMy husband and I went for breakfast on a Friday. We got an omelet and "The Everything" breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. We substituted a Belgium waffle for the pancakes for a dollar more. The staff was nice and friendly. We did have to wait in line 10 to 15 minutes to be seated because it was very busy. I got a coconut cupcake to go and it was delicious too. We will be going back next time we are in the area. UPDATE June, 2022 We got the same thing again, omelet and The Everything. This time we got the pancakes that comes with the plate, they were huge and we added pecans, they were just put on top not baked in the batter but it was very good! My husband ordered cheese grits and liked them but he said next time he would get plain. We got a Boston cream donut, donut hole and a slice each of the carmel cake, strawberry cake, and red velvet cake. Forgot to take pictures before tasting. What we ate has been very good, of the three cakes he liked the red velvet best, no surprise. I can't decide yet. The carmel cake icing did melt off some in the travels home. UPDATE, November 13, 2022, We both got the Western Omelets. I substituted the pepper for mushrooms and got hashbrowns, husband didn't change anything, but did get the cheese grits again. We got 4 huge biscuit, they were just warm but everything was delicious, as usual, including the tea. Of course, I got a slice of lemon and strawberry cake to take home! We went later than we normally do, and this is November, but there was NO LINE. The tables were full though and we could have waited about 5 minutes for some people to leave but we chose to sit at the bar. I'm not crazy about sitting at bars, but the service was excellent. My stool was a little wobbly and it was a little to tall for my legs. We will be back! I didn't store the cake slices correctly for travel, but it didn't...
