When we first visited The Villages almost 3yrs ago, lunch on the patio at Fenney Grill helped make us fall in love with TV! Gorgeous setting, great food, friendly servers. We bought our home right around the corner and used to go frequently - great salad, breakfast, lunches, dinners - our neighborhood restaurant with spectacular scenery, awesome Happy Hour, and wonderful live music under the Spanish moss-covered oak trees….
Ever since the former Manager purchased Fenney Grill from the previous owner, it’s gone downhill; filthy (sticky floors with trash left on them / walked past for hours, empty tables piled high with dirty plates for 1.5hrs+ while people wait 45 min for a table), food coming out at different times - and taking forever to be served (over 45-60 minutes from time of order is standard), COLD meals, no utensils, disinterested servers (some - not all), lazy management.
Such a disappointment. The past 3 times we went, we kept hoping it would improve, but it hasn’t. We were so embarrassed to have brought guests there - won’t be back until we see it’s changed.
We, and several friends who truly love having this neighborhood treasure in our backyard, have tried to address our concerns to management, but have actually had them be RUDE when we told them of the issues we have experienced.
Don’t blame the wait staff or say “no one wants to work” - plenty of other restaurants have GREAT food and service. Management should be helping the servers and checking in with guests, helping to clear tables / refill drinks / pick up trash rather than walk past it repeatedly….
Quality has suffered tremendously under this owner. Also, their website is regularly inaccurate and doesn’t show info on the live music - multiple times they have advertised a performer whom they hadn’t even booked (was playing elsewhere).
Huge disappointment; Fenney Grill should be a fantastic place with quality food and great service. We hope that, someday, management will get it together… we would love to be able to go back...
Read moreWe were in Florida, visiting friends, and we stopped in Fenney Grill. The restaurant looks like a northern Supper Club, but it's more like a sports bar inside. Unlike a Supper Club, they don't make a very good Old Fashioneds.
Being a Sunday night, it was fairly slow. We got there a little after 7 pm, but they looked like they were getting ready to close. The hostess asked us to wait while she went to clean a table before they sat us, even though there were plenty of available tables. When she came back to seat us at that same table, the bill and credit card payment from the previous quest was still on the table. It took a few minutes for the server to come by to pick up the check, then a few more minutes before she came back to welcome us to Fenneys.
The food is OK, about average. My wife ordered the Bunless Burger Salad. Our friends ordered the Mediterranean Shrimp Pasta and the Pot Roast. I ordered the Broiled Haddock. It took about 25-30 minutes between placing our order and bringing it to the table. It was longer than expected, considering the lack of business for the night. The food was good, the shrimp pasta our friend thought was very good, but the other three dinners were warm at best.
We chose this restaurant because they had Key Lime Pie on their menu, and one our friend loves Key Lime pie. Again, he thought it was average at best, a thin layer of Key Lime, poor crust, and a healthy layer of whip cream to build it up.
I'm glad we stopped but probably will not come back. I will acknowledge it was a Sunday night and probably not the A team working kitchen and...
Read moreWent to the Fenny Grill after golf for lunch. 4 people, with a 5th on the way. Restaurant not busy, but the front desk wouldnt allow us to be seated until the 5th was there. Hot and thirsty, we sat on the benches and waited the 10 mins or so until the 5th arrived. Asked for a table again after a bit, and were refused. The desk insisted that this was house policy. Never ran into that at any restaurant before. When we were eventually escorted to our seats, it was obviously not that busy. We ordered our food in due course, beverages first. Simple foods. Sandwiches, burgers, soup etc. We were all engrossed in conversation, but in time, it seemed like at least 25 minutes, I asked our waitress to check on our food, that it felt like we were waiting a long time. She left, and passed by a few minutes later tellng us that we had only been there for 12 minutes and the food order was only taken in 6 minutes prior. Looking around the table i could see people in my group shaking their heads in complete disbelief and surprised that that was the response. When the food did arrive some minutes later, the plates were hurriedly "dropped" (with a noticeably careless clatter) in front of each of us. Finally, as to the food. 4 out of 5 were ok to good with it. For me, a Reuben sandwich, it was one of the poorest examples of one that I've had. It was skimpy on the meat, and rather unexpectedly the bottom bread was soaked and mushy. Couldn't pick it up as a sandwich without the bottom slice falling away. I hadnt been ther in over a year, but was always happy with it before. But that's...
