This review is solely based on event coordination and the event coordinator. I am sure you will have a good experience just stopping in for lunch. But overall, I think says a lot about the management at this location/company. I’m not usually one to take the time to leave a bad review but if you are looking at kiki’s for an event, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. I have personally visited kikis for dinner and had great food and a great server and based on the good reviews online, was very surprised by what we experienced. I reached out to them hoping to host my rehearsal dinner and the process was a nightmare. My initial inquiry was January 5, 2023 and I did not receive a final proposal until the end of July. There is one particular person that hosts their events for this location and she is not the person you want handling a serious event. I have no idea if other people have had the same experience and i hope that no other bride does. There were constant delays, horrible communication, and condescending remarks along the way. She cannot admit to any errors and takes no ownership of any frustrations she causes. Any excuse was possible was used for delays, even “its mini season”….which I completely understand is a busy time in the keys but does not apply when i’ve been trying to get something done for months. She was the exact same way with my wedding coordinator, just unprofessional and poor customer service and we had zero faith that our event would go as planned, as much as we wanted to book here being that it was the ideal spot. She also is a member of one of the bands that plays at the restaurant and around the time we received the final proposal, said she would performing the same night as the rehearsal dinner, which when i asked who would be managing our event in her place, i received no response. I tried to connect with the general manager, i even met with him in person to discuss the issues and while he was very receptive, I experienced another several weeks of delays when someone was supposed to reach out to me so that I didn’t have to deal with the events manager any longer. Within two months of the event date, we were luckily able to book elsewhere. I shared an email with both managers on our reasoning for booking elsewhere and in detail recapped the issues that were caused, all we got was “thank you for your feedback and best of luck” they had zero remorse OR just did not see anything that happened as wrong. I never heard from a single manager with the restaurant/company about this which pretty much sealed the deal as expected that they really do not care. Truly, if they are successful enough that they aren’t concerned with keeping business, they should not offer events. We decided to book our wedding caterer to host our dinner at the venue the night before which we got a quote for in about a week and total cost was cheaper. I also recommend Havana Jacks near marathon. We did not book them due to distance but their service...
Read moreI recently dined at Kiki's Sandbar and Grill, hoping to enjoy some fresh and flavorful seafood in Key West, Florida, but my experience was quite disappointing. Nearly every dish I tried was overwhelmingly salty, completely overshadowing the natural flavors of the seafood.
The lobster bisque was so heavily salted that it was hard to enjoy. The Ahi tuna nachos were drowned in sauce, making them soggy and unappealing. The open fire grilled oysters, which I was excited to try, were also far too salty. The Po' Boy of the day, which should have been a standout dish, was lackluster and, again, overly salted. The clam chowder, which I usually love, mostly tasted like potatoes and was ruined by excessive salt. It didn’t even taste like there was any clam in it. The powdered potato flakes, likely used to thicken the soup, were noticeable and hadn't dissolved properly.
To top it off, the Seafood Tower was a major letdown. The king crab was overcooked and overly salty, the snow crab was overcooked and had lost all flavor, and the oysters were bland. Even the shrimp, while standard, were nothing special.
On a positive note, the customer service was really good. The staff was attentive and friendly, which made the experience a bit more bearable. However, even excellent service couldn’t make up for the disappointing food.
I was expecting fresh, well-prepared seafood that Key West is known for, but the excessive salt in these dishes completely overshadowed the seafood flavors. This was not the quality of food I anticipated, especially given the high ratings Kiki's has received in the past. It seems there might be a new cook in the kitchen, as the current food quality does not reflect the glowing reviews. Overall, my experience was disappointing, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic, flavorful seafood...
Read moreHate leaving bad reviews but I think it's necessary for consumers to be aware of the lack of standards this low rent outfit has. First off the service was terrible, we waited an hour before appetizers came out and another hour before our entries came out. When entres finally arrived my wife's snow crab clusters were rancid. They smelled and tasted of ammonia, consumer beware that this outfit has no shame in serving rancid shellfish to their customers. The other entres were way below expectations and just unimpressive. The fish was frozen not fresh bit of a slimy texture we had uncle bens microwave bag rice and some mooshy disgusting vegetables. This establishment is cutting costs by serving low quality ingredients and also rancid shellfish that could get someone hospitalized or dead and they are charging a high end premium at $40 a plate, what an absolute joke. We did complain, never saw a manager, a woman (looked like the bar tender) came out and said they would take 10% off the bill for the table, and they in fact did not do that. When bringing this to the attention of our waitress, she snapped, dug out her tip money from her pocket and slammed $10 onto the table and said "here take your 10%". It wasn't about the money, it was about the staff saying they'd do something for the bad experience and then not doing it. But to be gas lighted and guilt tripped like we are the bad guys after this horrendous experience, that was just the icing on the cake. Thank you Kiki's we learned something that night about your business and I hope others will read this and take their money some place else too. I will be sending an email to the health...
