Lagerheads Bar And Grill — Restaurant in Florida

I want to give a review on past and present experiences. Lagerhead bar and grill has been our vacation go to for 5+ years now. The food has been great at times and so so other times. I completely understand this as I myself own a bar and grill. I am very, very fair when I am reviewing a business, and know the drill VERY well . Yesterday we wanted to go to your establishment, enjoy the beach views and the sunshine. We ordered an appetizer (mussels) and a pitcher of beer. I have never had better mussels EVER!!!! They where fantastic, the bread, the butter sauce all fantastic!! Here's where there trouble started- 6 of the mussels where not opening after being cooked, which as a chef I know this is an issue, Safety. I would understand a couple of them but not 6. I was very nice and asked our waiter for six more, he was very rude, and not accommodating at all. He told us they are pretty portioned and will not give us 6 new. He than stated he would have the cook recook them to open them. I tried to show him from my phone how it's not good to eat unopened cooked mussels, clams or oysters, they are dead and need to be alive when cooked. He was defensive , grabbed our 6 mussels and about 5 minutes later brought them back, now opened. My fear was they were pryed open, at this point unfortunately I did not feel safe eating there, and the customer service was terrible. Please not I am telling you this for the safety of others and maybe a little more training on how to deal with knowledgeable guests that are just trying to help. Not even sure where to begin The food, The service, and the atmosphere are everything you could possibly want from a Florida seafood joint on the water! Incredible views of the Atlantic, and such a fun vibe at this place. We got the fish sampler basket and tater skins, both incredible! Being from Idaho we take our potatoes pretty serious, and they had a fun spin with loaded shrimp potato skins. The portion sizes here are huge and so tasty! The homemade sauces are knock you socks off good, and the beers are cold and they keep em coming. Also they may single-handedly have the best hush puppies I've ever had. Perfectly crispy with a unique seasoning that was just...wow.

The staff is incredible (Shannon was our server) and they are dog friendly, I just adopted a new puppy and I've been working on getting him socialized and their patio had a dog friendly section! They even have a doggy menu so you can order food for your four-legged friends. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there, it was such a fun way to end our beach day.

I just got a beach pass for the Ormond Beach area, so we'll definitely be frequenting the beach more often, and this will definitely be a new frequent stop for us. Great food, great vibes, I can't wait to come back. I think I found my new favorite...

Even though this was a recommendation from a FB friend for while I was in Ormond, I was not impressed. It is very much a dive bar atmosphere with a pricey menu. The outdoor seating was wood benches (very uncomfortable), the inside was very dark and the bathrooms were in very poor condition and stinky. The paper towel dispenser was literally hanging crooked off of the wall and ready to fall off. I ordered the 1/2lb. peel and eat shrimp appetizer with a side of sweet potato fries and it was $17! All of their entrees were in that price range as well. They charged me $16 for two margaritas that had NO alcohol in them (literally). Very disappointing. To top it off, we paid in cash and we did not ask for change only to have the waiter to return and tell us that we only gave him $4 to cover a $53 dollar bill. We looked at him with great confusion as we only had twenties and we actually gave him $60. He investigated and realized that he had someone else's bill. I can't say that I would go back.
