The Worst Meal I Have Had in Three Years of Coming Here ... and an embarrassment to share this place with new friends who were here for the first time. I made reservations at 4:30 pm for a party of 10 (6 adults & 4 kids ages 10, 8, 6 and 2) for 7:00 pm. After arriving early and taking the kids to see the animals, I went inside at 6:50 to let them know we arrived. I was told that our table wasn’t ready yet. We were finally seated in the back room more than a half hour later after being told several times that it would be another 10 - 15 minutes. We ordered appetizers and got our waters and then began to smell a strong odor of bleach that irritated our eyes, noses and throats. My daughter had to go outside to avoid being sick. It seemed to dissipate as a party of 10+ began to arrive at the table set up next to us. We placed our dinner order and ate the appetizers. My daughter and I ordered the soup special which was tomato. It was like eating bland spaghetti sauce. The kids had the chicken tenders/fries. The tenders were fried to the point of almost burnt and were dry. Ranch dressing kept them happy! My friend and I ordered the pasta scallopini, she the chicken and I the beef tips. It was listed on the menu as tossed in lemon butter but was served floating in an inch of sour lemon water. Even after pouring off the nasty water and adding butter, I could not eat the canned mushrooms and artichokes. I are most of the overcooked beef tips after drowning them with salt. My son-in-law ordered the three sausage special and liked it but would have liked to known which sausage was which. My friend’s husband ordered the chicken fried steak and ate all but his mashed potatoes. She choked down most of her pasta down by mixing in his leftover mashed potatoes. My boyfriend, who was paying for everyone, ordered the elk chops. It was probably the best cooked even though the baked potato looked days old and could not be eaten even with butter and sour cream. This was my last trip ever to this place! I will be sure to tell everyone that they should drive into Groveland and eat at Krispy’s Fried Chicken! You will get better cooked food for your...
Read moreI started going to this place months ago. I went one time to try since it’s close to home and I can’t stop going. Since you get in, you can feel this family country friendly atmosphere. I really enjoy eat there, it makes you feel like 15 years back when people were more friendly, less stressed and polite cause since you open the door, they are already with a big smile on their face and treating you like family. The food is amazing, but if you ask me what I recommend… Shrimp and fish on Tuesdays! The seasoning of the fried shrimps is on-point perfect, with that fish fillet crunchy in the outside but, tender inside well seasoned!!! The veggies are great and salad, you can taste the freshness I like it a lot,my kids enjoy all of them but the tomato soup was out of this world. The pasta Alfredo with chicken is a must. Oh! But the salmon… Only place I eat salmon! I can’t stop talking about this place, I tried most of the items in the menu. I can’t forget our server, Dianna, she took an amazing care of my picky kid. You know how difficult is go to a restaurant with kids? Specially one that is picky with the food? For the very first time my kiddo was with a big smile eating his food cause that lady went above and beyond! She took great care of him. It’s been long time since I don’t leave a review, but I had to leave one for this gem here. Need to tell the chef we love his food! We are grateful of Dianna and chef for fix my days with delicious food all the...
Read moreWish we had heard of this restaurant sooner! We’ve been here 6 years and just had our first (of many to come) visit. It is in a historic building in a quiet rural area. The lady (owner?) greets us at the door and seats us immediately and brings water. She said her husband is the chef and I can attest that he is a real chef and not just
a cook. The menu is varied with delicious sounding options, but be sure to hear what the several specials are. We ordered two of the specials because we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to enjoy them. Both were outstandingly delicious, with generous portions. The meal started with a choice of homemade soup or salad and the salad was also generous with fresh crisp lettuce leaves, vine ripened tomato (I can tell the difference), carrots, and my blue cheese dressing tasted homemade and even had large blue cheese chunks on the salad. The main course was made with high quality ingredients (mine was Steak Diane with fresh mushrooms and my husband’s was crab cakes). I can’t wait to return and taste a soup next time, as well as the maple pecan pork chops and a few other items on the menu. To end the meal, their berry cobbler is also served with generous portions and is homemade and as good a cobbler as I’ve ever tasted. Also, their website doesn’t mention alcohol, but they do have wines and perhaps...
