Rosebuds Restaurant, a standalone establishment with plenty of parking, seemed promising upon arrival on a busy Sunday evening at 7 PM. Greeted by a well-staffed host stand of four young ladies, we were given a buzzer and informed of a 30-minute wait since we had no reservation. However, we quickly found a cozy corner in the bar lounge’s first-come, first-serve seating, an area with a warm, inviting ambiance. Unfortunately, the food was uninspired from the start. The shrimp cocktail lacked any flavor, relying entirely on cocktail sauce for taste. The escargot, which should have had a delicate chew and a rich, garlicky depth, was limp and rubbery, missing both texture and seasoning. The oysters followed suit—bland, unremarkable, and lacking the freshness and brightness that should define them. The overall execution felt designed for a demographic with a preference for muted flavors, akin to something served in an assisted living facility. Salads arrived on well-chilled plates—a small but appreciated detail—until my wife found a four-inch piece of plastic in hers. While our server promptly replaced it, no manager came to the table to acknowledge the issue. Given the severity of a foreign object in food, this lack of response was particularly telling. For our entrées, my wife ordered the blackened mahi special with a side of sautéed mushrooms. The mahi was well-seasoned, the only dish of the night that showed any real effort. However, the mushrooms, like the appetizers, were flavorless, soft, and uninspired. I opted for the New York strip topped with garlic butter, expecting a well-executed, flavorful cut. Instead, the steak was tough, lacking both seasoning and tenderness, and even the butter couldn’t save it. My side of steamed broccoli was simply that—steamed and completely unseasoned, as if it had been plucked from a cafeteria tray at a retirement home. Service continued to disappoint. Our server never once checked in to ask if we were enjoying our meal, a fundamental oversight in hospitality. Even more glaring was the absence of managerial presence—despite our plastic incident, no one checked in, nor did we feel that guest satisfaction was a priority. Ironically, the only reason we could identify the manager was because we overheard him introducing himself to bar patrons as “Bill.” Dressed in a white polo, possibly with the Rosebuds logo, he made his rounds, chatting with guests in the lounge area, yet never once approached our table—even after a clear food safety issue. At the end of the meal, we weren’t satisfied—just hungry enough to finish but disappointed enough to never return. The hype surrounding Rosebuds is a mystery. It may appeal to those who prefer unimaginative, salt-free, uninspired food, but for anyone seeking depth, attention to detail, or a well-run dining experience, this restaurant is a miss. Not recommended, and certainly not worth a second visit.

What a disappointment this place was the steak chain food restaurants have way better food for cheaper prices. The escargot, salads and desert were good, the main course's need a lot of help. My wife's an son's steak were overcooked with no seasoning lobsters were overcooked and rubbery, my moms butterflied shrimp yep dry and overcooked. I had jambalaya which had good flavors it's ashame the chicken was dry and shrimp overcooked. After the waitress brought our food not once did she ask how it was like evey restaurant I've ever been too. My mother knocked over her glass and broke it on the table, another waitresses standing at the table beside ours heard it and seen us scrambling to fix it. She leaves the other table and tries to hurry past us while not looking at us dealing with it, twice we said Ma'am loudly she stopped on the second one then rendered assistants. I for one will not say anything about my meal until after I pay for my meal I don't want to look like I'm trying to get something off or free.I'll wait till after to voice my concerns but the waitress didn't even stick around long enough or even seem concerned. The owner and management needs to talk to their customers and get feedback because their staff simply won't. This is the first time in forever that I have not given a 20% tip, I have a lot of friends and family that come to this area for vacations and my word of mouth to them will to look elsewhere for a good meal. I wish I would have taken my mother elsewhere for her 71st birthday on July 4th. Update 7/5/21 I was up half the night with diarrhea and vomiting, been sick to my stomach all day I got food poisoning. $250.00 for food poisoning and a lousy dinner...

The first time I went to Rosebuds was about 8 years ago . I thought it was pretty good . But what does it tell you when you live 5 minutes away and the last time you went to Rosebuds was almost 8 years ago. I haven’t figured out what the hype is about and packed parking lots especially during season . My daughter really wanted Oyster Rockefeller so I decided to take her there for dinner. Tom was our server, he must do well to work there over 25 years. He kept our iced teas refilled which was a plus, nothing worse than hoping to get a refill when your glass is visibly empty. He was very pleasant despite having a-lot of tables to tend to. The place was packed like sardines, you really couldn’t have a decent conversation or not hear the people practically sitting on your lap. $32 dozen OR . Many were small and a-lot of broken shells. I know you have to be careful when eating them anyways, but sloppy shucking is uncalled for . Ordered chicken marsala which had a very MSG feel to it or too much flour and the wine sauce was just too strong and for $25 ? thats usually the cheapest chicken dish at other restaurants. Carrabas tastes better . My daughter had the veal parmesan , she said it was ok. Sometimes longevity isn’t always a positive for a restaurant. I cant say Ill go back in 8 years

Absolutely the worst experience trying to have a nice meal ever!! Went there for a Valentines dinner! Ready to pay whatever to make her smile!! Bread was great service prompt! But the food was terrible!! Both the asparagus and baked potatoes came out cold! Wife's steak was ordered medium and came out medium rare---way under cooked!I went all out and ordered the bone in ribeye!! What I got was a skinny stake over cooked and dry. So in the mean time they bring out fresh vegetables to eat! Wife steak comes back medium but of course the vegetables and potatoes are gone. I reordered a large filet cooked medium because the bone in ribeye was the worst one I have ever seen! Finally get the filet and cut into it. Not only under cooked but the only way I can suscribe it is that the meat was mushy! It had no structure or texture to it. It was not pink in the middle am nowhere like the filet my wife shared with me after being recooked!! The waitress then informed me that a manager was coming. Turns out it's the owner who comes out with the attitude--like what's your problem buddy!! I told him what I have just written here! To muy amazement he tells me I'm wrong!! That he has been in business for 24 years--as if that guaranteed every steak came out right every time for 24 years!! It was incredible! People in the room including my wife and I were shocked at his attitude, demeanor and rudeness!! We were truly embarrassed for him and wondered how he ever has stayed in business for 24 years!!

The reality he did not understand was that we eat out 3-4 times a week. We are new in town!! We were looking for a special night that we could duplicate for birthdays, anniversaries, special guests visiting!! We came with such hi hopes this was going to be a cool place that could be are @go to" place here in Osprey!! Obviously that did not happen!!!

Since that time I have had the honor of sharing our horrendous experience with almost everyone we talk to about eating out! Avoid this place and this man at all cost!! Let him continue to pay for his rude behavior for the next 24...

Went there Saturday November 17. We arrived almost 30 minutes early for our reservation and were offered a table right away if we wanted. We were famished so we gladly accepted. Our server was Rico and he was was very good. We liked that he had a good sense of humor but was also highly competent and extremely professional. Other attendants who quickly spotted when our drinks needed replenishing were also very friendly and professional. Two of us ordered Prime rib (queen) and the other two ordered Veal Marsala. I also ordered French onion fondue (soup) . The soup was some of the best I've ever had (nutmeg?) and after having that and the fresh baked (warm) bread I was hoping I didn't over order but oh well, doggy bag is always good too right? Caesar salad was spot on with very good shaved aged (slight hint of sharpness) parmesan and Rico gladly accommodated my request for capers for my salad. Timing was relaxed but not drawn out, in other words perfect. The entree's were seriously spectacular. We all said it was the very best dining experience any of us have had in Florida in 4 years. And we go out a lot. The prime rib was the best I've had in my life and I pride myself on my own. The veal marsala was flavorful, very tender and delicious. It was my birthday and Rico brought out a sampler size Creme Brulee was good but I'm not a fan of Creme Brulee in general so I cant give a great opinion of the quality. We all shared a slice of carrot cake and it was enormous. Very moist and just the right amount of sweet icing along with fresh made whipped cream dollops. I can't stop telling people about this place and cant wait to go back to try something else. I'm a huge fan of Veal Parmesan but I have only found ONE place that I like it in and sadly that's back in NY. I will give them a try for some and report back. I think my wife had her eye on a couple of other chef specialities as well. Only one thing would have made my meal better and that is if they offered duchess potato or at least a great creamy whipped potato to pair with the...
