Went towards the end of September and ordered ours to go. They were quite busy but mostly we just wanted to relax and watch a movie on our final night of vacation. I wanted a seafood boil with fresh gulf shrimp and crab legs. My mom and I both ordered one.

Upon walking in, someone who also worked there was speaking with the host. I'm not sure if he were the manager or what, but when we first walked in and said that we wanted to order takeout he made a concerned face and asked if it would be a lot. He didn't give a reason for that question but if I were ordering for a crowd I would have called in to check or ordered online if I could. This wasn't my first choice restaurant for the seafood boil, I didn't know they had one until I had to do a quick search since the original place I wanted to try was a food truck but they weren't in the location given. Restaurants were closing. Maybe it was just a little panic since they were busy but it definitely sat with me strange.

The host that night was super sweet and we enjoyed our food. We didn't have too wait long but we didn't receive our garlic bread or dressing with the salad. The low country boil itself had its pros and cons. Sadly, it was very greasy. So much oil was in the cut-up potatoes. I had to stop trying to eat them or else I get pure sick later. They didn't seem boiled either. I think ours were burnt because they were very dark. I guess the restaurant was trying to be unique but a simple boiled potato shouldn't be underestimated. While I always enjoy fresh garlic being used, they don't always correlate well when cooked with food fried. The garlic would have added more flavor if boiled.

Now the best parts! The corn tasted fresh and I sure wish they'd given two of those. The sausage was also good. The shrimp and crab legs were delicious! I have never had a crab leg with that much flavor and freshness. The meat was so sweet and succulent. I was obsessed with it. After fixing up the melted butter they gave with some salt and lemon juice, it was pure heaven on my taste buds.

I've been to Shipwreck before and enjoyed my visit then. The food I've had is good. The seafood boil isn't the best I've had mainly due to the potatoes but it was still a satisfying meal. Oh, and when they say hot for a spice-level choice they mean HOT! I'm a spicy addict and that was some heat for me to tackle. lol. But I loved it. I highly recommend this location when you're in the area. I wish I'd made at least another visit while...

You could definitely tell our server was banking on the automatic gratuity on our bill. Almost every interaction we had was because I had to get her attention. She ran out of lemonade mid pour on one of our drinks and she just brought it out anyway even though it was mostly water. Then she told us they were out of lemonade and just walked away, leaving the kids without drinks. She never looked at us when she would walk by. When I finally was able to get her attention, one kid asked for apple juice and she brought out chocolate milk, not a big deal but I had to find her to ask for apple juice. My crab cakes Benedict came out with basically hard boiled eggs on top. I wish I would have taken a picture. It took at least ten minutes for her to look at me so I could get her attention. She told me they come like that 🤔 she did have the kitchen remake them but they obviously rushed it because my crab cakes were mush and my eggs were undercooked, some of the whites were still translucent. I didn't want to complain again so I doused it in hot sauce and ate some of it, which I now regret. The waffles were bad. The only thing that was good were the fries and the kids mac n cheese. We are not high maintenance and we are very polite but it was so frustrating to have to get her attention for the most basic service. She never asked us how the food was. She didn't offer refills until after we were done. It took forever for her to pick up the bill when we just wanted to get out of there. The place wasn't even busy. I know I sound like a Karen but it was the worst service I...

My son and I are from Panama City Beach area and sometimes to avoid our local crowd we go to places like this (small road trip away) for dinner. This afternoon we had the rudest and strangest experience, their prices were not the best nor the worst. However, that is not my issue. As the waitress was bringing our food to us, we witnessed her stumbling and dropping a good bit of the plate (so much that they had to do a clean up). Well I thought she would have said something about it when she got to the table (possibly that she was going to bring some replacement stuff out) nope! So I said politely, this is not normally what we get with the dinner plate (you could see a big bare spot on my plate) and her response was lol- we have been cutting back on the portions. I seriously was so stunned that I repeated it back to her and she said, “yes, it is now the same amount as the appetizer”. I really don’t know what to say more than that. I obviously will not go back nor did I leave a tip because my son and I decided that we needed to cut back on tips that evening. She also made sure that I had to ask the other staff for a refill, etc. I will not get in to the fact that restaurants can’t do this (serve same amount for different prices) and how I have never finished a plate in my life and am not a big eater so good luck to those that actually are. I actually left there still hungry and wanted to let you know how ridiculous that experience was. Just know it’s not worth an evening out and they are cutting back on there portions according to...

A relaxed, beach‑town seafood restaurant known for its casual atmosphere, seaside views, and fresh Gulf catch. It's a go‑to spot for shrimp baskets, fish tacos, oysters, and seafood platters—perfect after a day on the water. The Shipwreck caters to beachgoers, boaters, and families seeking simple, satisfying seafood. It's more of a raw‑bar and tavern than an upscale restaurant—expect friendly, casual service. It is a very popular place so be prepared for a wait during vacation season. Our favorite entrees are Shrimp and Grits and The Crab Cakes. The Shrimp & Grits are large Gulf Shrimp sautéed in Cajun wine sauce with andouille sausage served over creamy grits. Lots of bold flavors and very satisfying. The Crab Cakes, you get (2) Crab Cakes and one side dish. So let me tell you about the Crab Cakes. You only get (2) because they are enormous!!! You can see and taste all the Crab meat because they are not overly breaded. They do not skimp on the Crab. Served with a spicy mayo for dipping. I ordered Stuffed Shrimp for the 1st time. It comes with one side. I always order a salad as my side. Few places serve salads so I am always excited when a restaurant offers them. I like the Garden Salad, it's the perfect ratio of olives, tomatoes, cheese and cucumbers mixed in. The ingredients are always fresh. I tried the stuffed shrimp to get something different and they were okay. I favor the Shrimp and Grits and Crab Cakes more because they these dishes are much more flavorful!!! #Seafood #PortStJoe #DonnasFloridaLifestyle

Disclaimer: we own a restaurant, so we are equal parts critical and empathetic to what all restaurants are dealing with right now. This is an all around GREAT restaurant. Clean, friendly staff, you know exactly what to do when you walk in the door (I hate walking in and not knowing if you seat yourself, or if you wait, etc.). But most of all SOLID on the food. We ate supper last night and it was the best fried shrimp we have ever had. The sautéed crab claws are NOT to be missed!! Stuffed mushrooms were amazing. And the low country boil was far too much food, but I ate until I was miserable because it was just that good. Went back for breakfast this morning and had the same great experience. Our waitress was awesome, the omelettes were large and fluffy with good quality ingredients. Everything came out in a timely manner and was piping HOT. The grits were perfect- good flavor, not too runny, not lumpy- and served steaming hot. All in all, this may be our favorite restaurant in the area.
