If they could get 0 they would⦠Ordered a jalapeƱo bacon burgerā¦
First, the burger came out wrong (two slices of cheese in a bowl (when asked for the cheese sauce that comes on cheese fries to be on the side), no cheese on the burger itself, no sauce (thatās supposed to come on it originally), no baconā¦..) all of which WAS SUPPOSED TO COME ON THE BURGER IN THE FIRST PLACE!
Then when stated that I didnt order it that way and it was wrong, they took the burger back to the kitchen (we were sitting right in front of it) and actually put the whole plate back in the window (WHERE OTHER FOOD IS BEING PREPARED) the guy in the window complained that I was complaining, then put the correct cheese and cheese sauce on the same plate (but still left off the bacon and sauce) and brought it back to me⦠now cold and STILL WRONG, and never changed his gloves! A guest/table touched that food & plate and he STILL continued to āplateā other guests food afterā¦. For sure AGAINST health code..
Asked for a manager. āJordan A (the server said that was his name āthoughtā that was the last initial) came out and already had an attitude, after I waited quite some time for him to arrive I explained what was wrong and also mentioned it is probably a health code violation to take food that hit the table and customer has touched and put it back in the kitchen, add things (while not changing gloves or anything) and then bring it backā¦. He then felt the need to rudely interrupt me not only once but twice with the statements of āit came back to you correct?ā & ādo you want a new burger or notā. I said āif youāre gonna have an attitude like that then noā. He took the plate and walked off. It shouldāve been made right the first AND OR second time!! This business is very unprofessional in the managerial area ( or at least Jordan is)
Also, not only did they have kitchen staff visible (obviously) they came out of the kitchen ( with gloves on) got a drink at the bar (still gloves on) and went back in the kitchen to continue making food (with the same gloves on still) , another staff member was witnessed putting a glove on, sticking his whole hand into a jar of jalapeƱos, reaching for something else, back in the jar (same gloves), then something else and back in the jar again, still same glovesā¦. If youāre touching other areas of the kitchen/restaurant you should NOT be reaching your hand back in a jar of food to serve to someoneā¦. PERIOD!!! Eco-sure will definitely be receiving a complaint about this place. Thatās ridiculousā¦. And hopefully higher management or owners will deal with the rest of their staff, seems like they donāt care though based on other reviews.. and the fact that a manager thinks itās okay to speak to a guest that way the first time they have a complaint.. If you get sick from here⦠you know why. Cross contamination all...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe used to love going to the Boathouse. Whenever we would have guests from out of town it's the first place we would take them out to eat. It was fun, the food was decent, and we loved listening to the music in the open air setting.
Over the past couple of years their quality has declined severely. At one point you couldn't order a burger well done. It was always served rare. When we asked to have it cooked well the server would tell us to order something else because the cooks won't cook it well. "They only cook it rare." Since when is it up to a restaurant's cook to decide how well done a patron's beef should be cooked?! So hopeful that the restaurant had been working on closing its gaps and picking up its quality we kept subjecting ourselves to more visits, but stayed away from the beef! Instead we ended up tolerating inconsistent, subpar food, sometimes slow/lacking/indifferent service, and less than clean facilities.
The restaurant has GREAT bones; on the water, open air, offers live entertainment, and a pool to use if you so desire. The management is highly lacking in staying on top of food quality, service, cleanliness and value for your dollar.
This last visit was the straw that broke the camel's back. We ordered the Signature Basket which should have included grouper bites, shrimp, and conch fritters. Our server told us that they are out of conch fritters and that they would replace them with hush puppies. Seriously!? They substituted four quarter size hush puppies which were mushy, greasy, under cooked, and unedible, for conch fritters! That's not quite a fair exchange (seafood for bread!?) but yet they still charged the same amount for the dinner. When I suggested maybe substituting coconut shrimp instead for the conch fritters, our server said he would ask the management and came back with a negative answer.
At our last visit the flies were horrible! Flies are not necessarily an uncommon issue in an outdoor setting but fans circulating air would help keep them away. There was one fan close to our table but it only oscillated 3/4 of the way around and stopped before any air reached our area. The table we were seated at still had leftover food on it from the people who had previously sat there. It had not been thoroughly cleaned. That may be another reason the flies were so horrible. We had to eat with one hand and keep swinging our other hands around to keep the flies off our food. We had to place napkins over our drinks. Another indication that the table hadn't been thoroughly cleaned for quite a while, was there were dead bugs stuck inside the slats of the table. That was pretty disgusting to look at while eating. We wrote a note to to the restaurant explaining our last visit and how disappointed we were. There has been no response, unfortunately, which indicates that they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE:Today was my last visit after many disappointing experiences with subpar food and waitstaff that are too busy to provide good service. I sent back my cold lamb gyro and sat there while my friends felt bad about eating their food...until one pulled 2 separate hairs from her meal. We heard that another table experienced the same thing. According to the manager the hairs couldn't have come from the kitchen staff since none of them are white! I wonder how she knew what the hairs looked like since we didn't describe them??? Prior experience: Myself and 3 friends went for lunch today to celebrate our last meal together before New Year's. Two of us ordered wine. When the server brought the wine, about a quarter glass of my friend's wine got spilled in the server's tray. The server turned her tray over to empty the spilled wine and said nothing to my friend when giving her a short glass of wine. I ordered the cob salad. At first I thought that it looked like a generous helping. Then I noticed the browning avocado slices and soon discovered that the bacon pieces were hard as a rock. The cucumber pieces were too big to eat without cutting. The plate was not appropriate. It was a very flat, light plastic plate with all the salad ingredients going to all the edges causing many pieces to fall off when attempting to eat anything. The plate itself almost ended up in my lap and I had to put it on a napkin to keep it on the table. It was impossible to mix all the ingredients, which were all separated, without losing things off the plate. I gave up trying to eat it for fear of breaking a tooth. When the server came back, I told her that the bacon was too hard. She eventually came back with three strips of bacon. Not sure how she expected me to eat the salad as it had bacon bits throughout after I originally tried mixing everything. I told her that I wasn't going to be able to eat the salad with all the hard bacon in it. Instead of offering me a replacement or something else, she just said that she wouldn't charge me for it. She asked me twice if I wanted more wine, and then dessert. Not sure what she was thinking since I basically had nothing to eat. When my friend ordered another wine, she said that she would like a "full glass this time" with no reaction from the server. My friends couldn't believe how the server was handling the situation. Anyways, I regret not taking a picture of the mess I had going with the salad, but I did take a picture of my bill charging me $6.00 for the wine, .39 in taxes for a total of $6.50???? So...
