A new friend whom I bought a Streetrider (elliptical bike) from told me I have to check out the Waterfront. He said he and his friends used to take jetski's over to this place every Thursday (for several years I think he said). Anyway, he was so happy when he talked about his group of friends' weekly jetski adventure around the area and they always started their fun at this place for lunch. Now I see why!!!
My experience at the Waterfront today (my first time there) was beyond, way beyond incredible, delicious, prompt, the value is awesome, and if more WOW is possible, it goes to Kellie, the server from whom I was fortunate enough to receive super great care during my dining experience. She was soooo sweet. She was also busy after awhile and still, she was totally on top of it. What I loved most is something that is quite rare, (something I recognized in myself when I was in the restaurant business, too): that going above and beyond really catapults a dining experience from good to fabulous. I could tell several different ways that she was imagining before I even asked what would make the experience so much better. Let me give you two examples: she brought my service animal a bowl of water voluntarily!!! (Ok, she had me there and Maya girl, too, of course!) Secondly, (ok I have to add some examples there were so many~!) she had all the relevant condiments tackled. I ran out of nothing. And busy or not, Kellie not only volunteered to bring this hot sauce homemade yummy vinegar, but she actually took the time to tell me all that was in it, (a lot) including thyme, etc etc etc. (It was indeed awesome by the way!) I have been to Red's seafood (no more!!!! way over priced and food is not good in my opinion and not consistent) and I was greatly disappointed those times. It's all I had to go by as I haven't been in this area long, in addition to Salt Water Smoke house once (save your time and money!)
Today, on the other hand, at the Waterfront, I got oysters that were THREE times as plump and OMG delicious and cost quite a bit less than the ones I got at Red's two nights ago.
And ambiance...wowzerz! Today, Maya and I got to sit outside right on the water, divine, relaxed (with funny signs around the deck, too!) ! and I LOVED the music.! (my baby girl was quite happy!)
I cannot write a thrilled enough review. I LOVE this place! Man, one more thing, I know something about seafood having grown up in Florida and the only scallops I've EVER had like Singleton's Seafood shack in Jacksonville ...the ONLY ones as sweet EVER are the ones I had today at the Waterfront (in the awesome 'choose your own combo' basket). I know what a HUGE compliment that is. I hope you will find out, too. I'm eating the left overs now and...
Read moreMy friend and I went to the waterfront this week. We were there a couple years ago and it was very good so we looked forward to returning. They used to have fried clams on the menu and they don't any longer and I'm not real big on seafood but my friend loves it. I ended up ordering the pulled pork (21.95) which is advertised as coming with coleslaw and two sides. My friend ordered the pot pie. My friend loved the pot pie and it had delicious seafood in it. The pulled pork was dismal. It was dry and I had to ask for barbecue sauce. The server brought out little cups of coleslaw before our meal came. Once the meal came and we ate I was disappointed. The service was extremely slow and we had to flag down the waitress to get our checks. Then no one came to get them. As I was looking at my bill I noticed I was charged $1.75 for each side, this is not noted on the menu nor were we told about this. We had to go up to the front to pay even though people were standing around since it was early and not crowded. I asked why the meal was advertised with two sides and then I was upcharged for them and never told. They did remove the charges from the bill which I was grateful for but I can assure you I will never return and will tell everyone I know. I understand that food costs are going up and I don't expect restaurants to just generally absorb it. But I should have been given the option of ordering two sides which were not very...
Read moreWent here for a late lunch recently. We were able to be seated a fair distance away and our server and the other employees were also masked. We ordered a scallop basket and fish and chips. Both of them were very good and came with a very large serving of fries. Even though they were good, they definitely looked like they had been factory prepared and then fried at the Waterfront, so they have to lose a star for that. With all the seafood options here in FL, they could easily source fresh ingredients. A couple other quibbles: not a great craft beer selection (out of draft IPA on a Saturday?) but did have Jai Lai in a can. Also our server could have been much more attentive. She was slow to return when we were seated, and then came to the table next to us and then abruptly left without asking if we needed anything, which we did. I had to flag her down to get our check and order a 2nd beer from the food runner, which he brought promptly. And one final thing, the tartar sauce and mayo came in prepackaged containers, not what you would expect from a better restaurant, although the Ken's tartar sauce is good. (I hate those tubes of mayo, they only hold a small amount and are a pain to get open. Just give me a little tub of mayo please.) Not a meal I would drive 20 miles for, but if I was in the area I would return and try...
