I can't speak to the food, as I begin writing this review. We've been here long enough for 6 tables of the 10 in our section to be seated, receive their orders, consume them, and leave. It was 15 minutes before our server [edit: Erica S, according to our bill ... she never introduced herself] came to take drink orders.
Since ordering our meals, it has been nearly impossible to get our server's attention. Yes, it is St Patrick's Day and, if we hadn't been here at 4 pm, seated for over an hour with no sign of food? Fair enough. Busiest Monday of the year. With more tables empty than full at this hour? Not happy.
She claimed that the kitchen lost our order. Possibly. She also claimed that my iced tea refill was sweet tea (I'm DD). Insisted that she had made it and it was absolutely sweet tea. My first glass was sweet tea. The second had zero sugar, confirmed by another person in my group. She did, eventually, take the still full glass of unsweet tea from the edge of the table (where the empty still sat) and replace it with actual sweet tea. I'm guessing that somebody else also requested their drink be fixed, because she seemed pretty determined not to replace it when I originally pointed out the error.
The food finally arrived nearly 50 minutes after we ordered it. It was okay, but to be fair, we waited long enough that we were primed to be critical. I'm going to be nice and say nothing ... except to question the wisdom of serving long slices of corned beef with cabbage and not providing so much as a plastic knife to go with the plastic fork. Already knowing how difficult it was to get her attention, I didn't want to let my food grow cold while I attempted to flag her down. I used my plastic fork and fingers to tear it into easier to manage chunks.
In conclusion? The server was apologetic when she realized that the kitchen hadn't even started our food ... but, as we couldn't get her attention until 40 minutes had passed? I feel like ahe should have noticed how many of her tables that ordered after us already had eaten their dinners and were paying their tabs.
I was considering suggesting The Wexford for a weekly early dinner meetup with friends, but one of the ladies is usually on a time crunch due to nearby volunteer responsibilities. I cannot suggest this establishment, given our...

Today, BFFF(Bodaciously Fine Fab Fiancée) and I stopped in for a late lunch. We always sit in the 'adult' section just inside the door....so we can see all that goes on and get great service! Today, our adult libation specialist was Christina. She's funny, fun and a fair lass, she is. Even though we sit at the bar, she never winces when I order unsweet tea! I do wonder how that'd go in a true Irish pub in Dublin, however?
BFFF chose one of her favorite PjD menu items, the simple Angus Burger. I guess in Ireland it would be called Aengus, the Irish form of the Scottish Gaelic name. Anyway..... This juicy, mouthwatering burg on a bun comes with a side of their home cut chips. French fries to some, these chips tell a tale. A tale of someone sitting down and hand slicing them right out of a potato. Then deep frying them. They make fast food potato french fry things look like pick up sticks.
I chose, once again, The Sheperd's Pie. Seems like I keep coming back for this dish. I order it quite often. Why not? It's meat and potatoes with a twist! You get the meat in this delightful gravyish-sauce with some creamy potatoes piped on top. The potatoes look like whipped cream on a pie, only yummier! Top this with some cheese, add in some green peas and there you have it! I will give it an 8 out of 10. I know of 2 other Irish places that get my 10 vote...(being fair and honest, of course!)
What's amazing about this place is that it is never crowded when we visit. Some times there are just a handful of customers. I'm sure from reading other reviews there are times when the place is hopping! Nonetheless, it makes it a bit more romantic this way, for us. We can imagine we are sitting in an authentic pub, and the locals have yet to arrive from tending their sheep.
Give Pj Dolan's a try....and before you leave, raise a glass and...
Read moreNot worth the price. Service is lacking as is the food. So we've been here once or twice before and it was average. We came back tonight for St. Patrick's Day. I called ahead of time to see what the festivities were, I was told there was a special on beer - happy hour. We got there and that was not the case. Beer was regular price... ok, that was fine. I asked the waitress if the Guiness on tap was the Stout, because they have a draught, stout, black and blonde. She said yes, this was the stout. Well, it was not, it was the draught. She proceeded to argue with us, citing she was Irish and they are all stouts.. which may be true, but that was not my question, was the one on draft what they consider their stout.. It took several conversations for her to offer another beer. So far, not so good We then ordered food - one of their specials, Bangers and Mash. I asked if the mashed potatoes were from a box or fresh. The server said - ohhhh everything is made from scratch. This was not the case. They were from a box. The reason I asked is because boxed or premade mashed potatoes have a preservative I am allergic to. The dinner was not cheap and there was no apology or offer for something else. We heard others complaining, even servers at how long things were taking. Another table was waiting over 2 hours for their food and they couldn't figure our where it was. Now I know it was a busy night but this was just too many for the price they were charging. I would...
