We have family in Mount Dora and we ordered pizza when we came to visit. We were so excited to see that Vincent's offers gluten free pizza. My husband has severe celiac disease. When you eat gluten with celiac disease, at about the 2-3 hour mark after eating, it will cause vomiting and extreme abdominal pain. I am gluten sensitive (mild stomach upset and swollen joints ). It was a few weeks ago. I think the date was 11/23. We ordered 2 gluten free pizzas and a regular for the family. If you have Celiac- STAY AWAY! As we were driving home, my husband had the most severe celiac reaction that he has ever had. We had to pull over because he could no longer drive. He had extreme abdominal pain. The pain was so severe and caused his stomach and abdominal muscel to contract so violently that I almost had to call 911. Luckily, I was able to help him to the passenger seat and drive us home. He was ill all night and into Sunday. On Sunday I called to report this. I didn't call angry. I called because I was concerned that a mistake was made in the kitchen and they needed to look in to this. The staff member that answered the phone was nice and apologetic. I asked if there could have been a mistake or contamination. She said no and then offered to give me a credit. I said I do not want a credit because there is no way we would trust them to eat there again. I really wanted them to be proactive and investigate how this happened. This is the first time that we have ordered gluten free and had a reaction like this. The staff member made no effort to address my concerns other than offer to feed us more poison food. I asked for a credit for the 2 gluten free pizzas and she replied that she would have to have the owner call me on Tuesday. The owner never called. If they had resolved this on the phone, I would not be posting a review but they have given me no other outlet.
I came acrosss my own review because I was searching for gluten free restaurants in the area and this was recomended again. I am so disappointed that not one person who works at this place has even responded to this. You would think if you made someone ill you would want to find out about it and discuss what happened. They can't even bother to place a coment...
Read moreI must say the food was delicious the calamari appetizers breading was tasteless as was the breading on the cheese sticks. bread with garlic was fresh and good albeit a tad greasy. The salad very basic but the homemade Blue cheese dressing was awesome! The meals themselves I had the clam linguine it was very good. My son wasn't all that impressed with the chicken alfredo due to the sauce (he's picky) and the combo platter my wife got she loved. Now I must say that the menu is very pricey (much higher than most eateries in lake county for the fare) also if you add anything to the entrées I must insist you ask the price before you order and get a big surprise on your bill. All 3 of us added "a side of shrimp" to our plates. When the bill came (also the bill is the copy of the chicken scratched order the waitress wrote and a calculator printout of unidentified numbers the cashier added up) we were charged as much for the "added Side of shrimp" as we were for the entrée itself! I've eaten many places and worked in food service and if you ask for a side order your charged accordingly. But paying $15-17 for an entrée and to add shrimp to them $14 for the same amount and the same size shrimp olive garden rest would charge maybe up to $7 but if you ask them for a side it would be 5 shrimp @ $3.50 Vincent's gave us about 10 so double the amount of the the chain but over triple the price. I didn't see any gold wrapped around them so why so much! When we approached the cashier with this they said we should have asked how much it would be and pointed to her desk at a bunch of hand written notes "we have it all written right here" Basically treated us like deadbeats trying to get out of a bill. quite rudely saying we ordered it we're paying for it. after arguing with us for 10 min they finally agreed the waitress should have informed us of the high fee and gave us a 15% discount (bill for three people over $100 after the discount) We tipped 20% to the server paid our bill and left with the 20 people we...
Read moreI don't know what's worse the food or the service. This has been by far the WORST restaurant experience I've ever had. The waitress was a bitter old woman named Debbie who clearly hates her job and making money. I came in with a party of 13 for a parting dinner with a friend that is terminally ill so we wanted it to be special and memorable... it'll be memorable for all the wrong reason though. From the beginning the server Debbie was very snappy, cut us off and every time I asked a question she'd smirk and answer it like it was obvious. I asked to substitute meat for vegetables in a calzone and she agreed, but I didn't trust her already and asked if it'll be an upcharge and she said " of course because spinach and broccoli are way more expensive than meat" so she was trying to secretly charge me. Then I ordered a Florentine ravioli and it was flavorless and clearly frozen. My mom ordered broccoli Alfredo and once again completely bland for $17!! It is RIDICULOUS! Told the server it was nasty and she brought over the "manager" , which I then found out she was just a regular employee who argued with me that no one has complained about it so it couldn't be bad. We were so fed up with this place we started leaving and asked for the horrible server who ruined our nights name and that's when this grown woman (Debbie) told us to Google it and argued with us at the door telling us thank you for not tipping her, SHE DIDN'T DESERVE A TIP. She's literally yelling at my mom and I so we then talked to the REAL manager who apologized but didn't give us a refund on food we took a bite out of. I don't know how this place stays open. I will be sure to let Vincent know about all the ways his employees are ruining his business next time he comes to the market to purchase tomatoes. I'd fire that woman in a heartbeat if they know what's best for business. If you want good food and service, drive out to Mia's Italian kitchen in Orlando, it's worth the drive. Never coming to this joke of a...
