A Must Go To Restaurant In Foley, Alabama!šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’ØšŸ˜‹ #fyp #soulfood #foley

Very enjoyable food! It's not a big menu but what they have they seem to do well. I showed up for an early dinner and we practically had the place to ourselves. I tried the blackened catfish and shrimp and it was good thanks to a real flavorful blackening seasoning. A lot of places around here say "blackened" and then make it as dull and lifeless as plain grilled fish. This won't light your taste buds afire but it is certainly flavorful which is welcome. Another diner tried the "Kathy's Grounded Up Beef N Gravy" which was exactly as advertised -- ground beef in gravy, served over rice with peppers and onions. It turned out to be the hit of the table thanks to the rich gravy and tender ground beef. The other diner pulled for the fried chicken. While it was good, it wasn't a very large portion. Two pieces (leg and thigh, a/k/a the good stuff) should be plenty but these must've come from a pygmy chicken or something. They were tiny! Sides were universally liked, too. The candied yams were excellent - medallions of yam in a thick sweet glaze and covered with toasted marshmallows. That was more than sufficient for dessert (whichi s a shame as their desserts all looked great, too). Bacon fried cabbage was a good alternative to the standard sides and was served finely shredded (more coarse than coleslaw but finer than what you usually see at southern restaurants). Of course with bacon, everything is better and that side is no exception! Collard greens are a welcome choice as well and while they're not my favorite in Baldwin County they are a very close second and clearly home-made. The 'bean of the day' on my visit was butterbeans but these were really just regular old tiny limas and not the big white creamy beans you get in deep south cooking. Still, they were just fine thanks to a thick and creamy broth and lots of meat for seasoning. Sweet tea was good, service was good, and the interior is a lot nicer than you'd expect from the outside. I do with the parking lot was paved but that's such a minor quibble it's not a big deal. Unless it's stormy, ha ha. Overall, a welcome addition to the dining scene in Foley and Summerdale. Although the prices a teeny big high for the area, the quality of the food makes up for it.

This place is amazing, and I dont know why there wasn't a constant stream of people coming in and out of it!! If you're looking for seasoned, home cooked food,... look no further than Hatties in Foley Alabama! Upon entering the building, we were greeted warmly and welcomed. We were promptly seated, and our waitress came right over to get our drinks. She was able to answer our questions regarding the menu and provided us with the daily specials. I ordered Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, cabbage, and cornbread. My husband ordered the crumbled beef over rice with sweet potatoes, cabbage, and a roll. We had coconut cake and cookie butter cake for dessert. We also got a cup of gumbo to try. The gumbo came out as an appetizer, and it was delicious!! My husband and I shared it, and he kept asking why I didn't order more. Our food arrived HOT... I mean piping hot and large portions. Heres my review of our food: Salisbury steak over mashed potaoes: this was delicious! Cooked to order huge beef patty atop mashed potatoes smothered in onions and brown gravy. šŸ˜‹ Cabbage: advertised as cooked in bacon grease thos cabbage is tender and flavorful. We like pepper, so I added a little of that but otherwise seasoned well. Mac and cheese: Baked mac and cheese with plenty of cheese. We prefer a little creamer mac and cheese, but this was good. Sweet potatoes: just sweet enough and compliments the mac and cheese! Crumbled beef over rice: husband like this. It had peppers and onions and brown gravy and was served over rice. He preferred the Salisbury steak, but he cleaned his place, so this was good also. Roll and cornbread: both soft and warm. The roll is a cresent roll and was beautifully golden. The cornbread was soft and delicious. Coconut cake: moist and delicious. Not too sweet and I believe it's tasted a hint of cream cheese in the icing. Cookie butter cake: this wasn't a favorite for us. The cake was on the dry side and the icing was super sweet, actually made my teeth hurt. We will definitely visit this place again! If you're in the area or if you live in or around Foley, please RUN and check them out!! You won't be disappointed. This was our favorite restaurant we visited while here.

It was my first time eating in this restaurant. If you like good Southern soul food, you should visit this friendly place with a nice kind of atmosphere I had beef tips on a bed of rice mixed with garden veggies, plus hush puppies, and a side of okra. The entire meal was done very well and tasteful. Service was excellent and quick. The entire staff was very kind and respectful. The restaurant is located on HWY North 59, just before you reach the turn off foe the Beech Express.

Update 06/11/2025 My second visit to Hatties Sole food restaurant. I took my son and daughter-in-law to Hatties. We were greeted at the door by Danielle with a big Ole smile. She escorted us to a table, gave us our minutes, and told us the daily specials. Sometimes, there are so many good meals available, and it makes my choice difficult. She provided glasses of water and told us to take our time, I will be ready when you are. I chose blackened catfish with sides of mashed potatoes and Okra and hush puppies , a great southern meal choice. My daughter chose southern fried chicken with sides of Okra, mashed potatoes, and hush puppies. It was another great southern meal. My son chose breaded jalapino beef, with a side of Okra, and hush puppies. It's still another great Southern meal choice. We only waited about 15 minutes for our meals to be served. Boy, howdy, all the plates had plenty of food which was very taste, and cooked to perfection!. Danielle checked on us often and refilled our water glasses. I also noticed that Hatties does serve adult beverages, beer, wine, and liquor. There is also live music on Fridays. The restaurant was very clean and tastefully decorated. There is handicap parking available near the front door and other parking spaces in the parking lot out front of the building. If you are looking for excellent Southern style cooking, Hatties is a great place to start. The restaurant is located alongside HWY...
