The Other Store — Restaurant in Forest Acres

I have been coming to the store for over 17 years because I absolutely loved the food and the quality. But I cannot overlook the entitlement that they feel about Old school and mom and pop store. Over the years there has been several incidents that I have overlooked. The 1st was many years ago an elderly lady was sitting at the bar eating lunch with friends as I was placing my order of what I want and I didn't want on my sandwich she then looked at me and looked at the chef and said I remember years ago this would not have been tolerated, But I overlooked it because she was elderly. The 2nd incident I was ordering the Salad and the chef proceeded to rake in a plate all of the lettuce and tomatoes that was dropped on the counter where he prepares the food into a plate with the other lettuce and tomatoes and so forth in the plate And then added the other ingredients and toppings for this Salad and gave it to me I then said to him that I did not want that, that I wanted a freshly made salad, he then said to me is all the same it's still good. I then talk to the owner about it she apologize and I said that I did not want him to make my food anymore well needless to say that didn't happen. The 3rd incident I was there with some friends ordering several things when the owner looked at 1 of the plates and said that was too much meat and proceeded to take her hands and start taking some of the meat out. I then stated that I thought that that was improper that we would have paid for the extra meat and that she should have just spoken to the chef afterwards. The 4th incident which is the last I call den and placed an order over the phone I then came in to pick it up Where it was on a table with other bags with all the names on it I picked up my bag with my name on it after getting to my destination on the Lake in the water I then realize that I did not have my sandwiches, So I called her to let her know that I did not get my sandwiches and that I would be there later in the week to get them, Something in her voice didn't sound right so I called her back and asked her was that OK and she said yes but they're not gonna be for free it's not my problem that you left your sandwiches. I just laughed and said I picked up the bag with my name on it she then said to me well you have ordered like this a lot of times and so you should have known that you did not have enough boxes so I would think that you would have said to yourself I'm an idiot I left my other bag. I didn't told her that she was either selfish greedy or stingy or just don't know any better to say any of this to me for the amount of business that I have bought to her and every time I come I spin $30 or more with her. She didn't said there's nothing that I can do I can probably give you a discount but I don't feel that it's my responsibility and you should take partially of the blame. And told me that I should feel like an idiot for leaving my bag because I should have known better that it was not all of the order. No other business does this or gets away with this. TBC... Please no adult bullies this is the matter of business and right and wrong!! these people are low-key racist that came out this day. She felt entitled to say whatever she wanted to say to me regardless of how much business I bought how much money I’ve spent very very rude and...

Nice little place. The only thing I didn’t like was that some of the sandwiches if they get toasted, they are burnt. I don’t like my bread burnt. I got the roast beef and the bread as you can see in the pics is too burnt to my liking.

I also got the Reuben. I didn’t like the cheddar cheese, so I switched it for provolone but the meat didn’t have any flavor at all. Didn’t seem cooked to me. Didn’t like it at all.

The only sandwich I did like was the turkey, spinach with avocado. Great sandwich! Bread was a little burnt, but it was a 9/10! I would buy it again! Sandwiches come with chips and a slice of pickle. Love that! Highly recommend that sandwich! If you don’t like your bread burnt make sure to mention it to the guys! They seem very nice!

They were super busy so I did wait for 30 minutes but I don’t mind waiting for good food! Just wished the bread was not burnt. Gentleman at the register was super friendly and very helpful! Lady who took order was very nice.

Price was a little high for burnt sandwiches! $30 for 3 sandwiches. Too much! I would rather get Chipotle or Mexican Fajitas!

The lady who gives you a receipt does not ask your name or give you a number she’ll describe you on her receipt as whatever she thinks you are! She described me as “Asian black top” lol

I don’t get it. I know people who think this place is great. I’ve never once actually liked the food I’ve gotten and I’ve ordered many things over the past two or three years. Additionally, this place is really slow and disorganized about takeout orders. You have to order far in advance and check you have the right order because they will leave things out. (And of course there’s no easy way to get the menu online and no way to order online.) The fresh fruit has always commingled too long and the acid ruins some of the fruit. The chicken salad is the most mundane pickle spread you can imagine. Bread is very meh. Not a single thing to write home about. One of the last things I ordered was a vegetable soup that was clearly just a bunch of random stuff thrown into a pot (kinda like a gumbo, not so much soup) without regard to timing the cooking of vegetables with different textures so some things were over cooked and some under cooked.
