CHINA WOK — Restaurant in Forest City

Been coming here for years, and apart from a couple of times of a slightly messed up order, always been satisfied. It's the kind of food you know you're going to get, with friendly staff.

I primarily get sweet and sour options (albeit I don't like the sauce that comes with it, so basically battered popcorn chicken/pork/shrimp), but branch out for variation. Nothing is actually really spicy, which I chalk mainly up to trying to cater to general tastes.

In my opinion, portions are quite generous. I never order large, and typically have enough left over for a meal the next day. It helps that I typically order extra vegetables, because defying my experiences just steamed vegetables here are cooked far better than most diners or restaurants I've been to.

My only real downside is that there's no delivery, but not like I can view them negatively for it. Overall, just a typical American Chinese food place, friendly staff, good food. You know what you're getting, and nothing wrong...

I really want to like this place. We keep giving them a chance every few months because it’s a shorter trip than going into Carbondale. We regret it every time. This was the last time. The young lady that works the front is consistently rude over the phone and when you pick up your order. This latest time she didn’t take our number down when I ordered and when my wife came to pick it up she didn’t believe it was hers. I had to call to clear it up and she literally threw the bag at my wife. Food was bland and drowning in goopy sauce. Head to Great Wall or Foliage in Carbondale, always great food...

This is probably the best place to eat in this small town. They accept call ahead orders, as most people order to go. They only have about 2 tables to eat at if you dine in.

It's a family owned place. Prices are in the moderate category. The food isn't terrible but it's definitely not the best we've had.

From what we've ordered, we do not suggest the fried shrimp or short ribs. Their rice is pretty good. We generally order dishes with chicken and they are cooked properly (not over cooked), but the sauce flavors are...
