Forester Inn — Restaurant in Forester Township

I was looking forward to one of their famous 1lb burgers and fries with my wife but was absolutely disgusted at what I witnessed today. We sat in an area where we saw the cook,we watched him for a good 5 minutes straight, and in that time, he went from opening a walk in cooler door ( with no gloves), arranging someone's nachos/chips and cheese with his bare hands that just opened a cooler door, then putting food in his mouth behind the counter with those same un-washed bare hands and then after putting food in his mouth, forcefully arranging someone's French fries with those same bare unwashed finger licking good digits. Seriously? I can't believe I witnessed this at a place that serves food. THIS IS NOT OK. I don't care how country you are. I have cooked myself food on a little buddy ice fishing heater in my shanty that is more sanitary than this was today. Also a smile, hello, how are you or a simple welcome, all work great for proper greetings to patrons. We all have bad days though. I have always wanted to try the Forester INN restaurant/Bar for many years, but it is an hour+ drive for me. I finally stopped in with some friends a few days ago on a Sunday. We stood at the sign that said wait to be seated for several minutes and finally decided to seat ourselves. There were only 3 tables with customers seated and a couple at the bar. We noticed that our waitress was also the bar tender. She was able to take our order quickly, and our food came up in a reasonable amount of time. The food was excellent and I would recommend it highly, however.... after our food was served our waitress never came back to check on us ( fortunately there were no issues ) and several more people came into the bar and several more came to eat plus the phone was ringing and the lone/ bar tender/waitress/phone order taker etc.. was way too busy to get us our check or ask if we needed more drinks. I hope this was an isolated incident the service could have been much better. This was not the fault of our waitress she was good when she was able to be there. I will give this place another try...

Service was slow, it took nearly 10 mins to get our menus and our table was dirty. Salad bar was very bare and we did not get our money's worth. We were sure to tell our server about it only to hear her say it wasn't her job. I ordered my steak medium rare only to recieve it rare and cold, I decided not to complain then and there due to the fact that it would have probably taken another 45 mins to get food. Side note if you order fries as a side, just know you will literally get about 6 French fries. We were told the owner was the one cooking. We then asked our server if we could speak to her and she never came by, we waited about 10-15 mins. We expressed our concerns and comments and this establishment did nothing to help solve them or make things right. We figured at least our salad bar fee should be removed, but they refused.
