Upon entering the humble abode known as the “Forksville Inn”, I was greeted not by the warm embrace of hospitality, but by an aura of unwelcoming disdain that permeated the very air. The bartender, if one could even call them that, exhibited a level of unfriendliness and annoyance that surpassed any reasonable expectation.
From the moment I approached the counter, it was evident that this establishment had little regard for basic customer service. The bartender, with a perpetual scowl etched upon their face, greeted my presence with a condescending glare and a sigh of exasperation. Their lackadaisical demeanor and dismissive attitude left no doubt in my mind that my patronage was an inconvenience to be endured rather than appreciated.
As I mustered the courage to place my order, the bartender's impatience became palpable. Their snide remarks and curt responses to my inquiries only served to heighten my frustration. It seemed as though every interaction was met with an air of annoyance, as if my mere presence inconvenienced their day.
To make matters worse, the bartender's incompetence shone through in their lack of basic bartending skills. Simple requests were met with fumbled attempts and misplaced ingredients. It was as if they were actively attempting to sabotage the very essence of mixology, leaving me to question why they had chosen this profession in the first place.
In the realm of customer service, attentiveness and friendliness are virtues to be treasured. Sadly, Forksville Inn falls short on both accounts. The bartender's dismissive nature and lack of genuine care for their patrons left a bitter taste in my mouth, overshadowing any redeeming qualities the establishment may have possessed.
As I departed the “Inn”, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. Relief that I would no longer be subjected to the bartender's snarky remarks and lackluster service. It is with great disappointment that I must proclaim the Forksville Inn as a prime example of how not to run a small rural bar.
Potential patrons, beware. Your search for a friendly and enjoyable watering hole would be better served by venturing elsewhere, such as the Hillsgrove Hotel. Spare yourself the frustration and disappointment that awaits within the confines of this bar, and seek refuge in an establishment where hospitality and genuine care for the customer reign supreme.
As the owner himself said below, head over to the Hillsgrove Hotel where Steve and Cathie will treat you proper. He even admits they run a finer business in his response below. Just because you have a relationship with better business owners does not elevate your own. Feeble attempts to inflate the value of your customer service and product by comparing yourselves to such a fine establishment and making calls to your personal relationship should be met with dismissal by any potential...
Read moreThere were 7 of us who drove 1 1/2hrs to get there from Elmira NY to get there for dinner with a table reserved. Once seated we were greeted and introduced to our friendly and very personable waitress (named Angel). When it came time to order we ordered onion rings, stuffed mushrooms, Jalapeño poppers, fried shrimp, corn poppers for appetizers which all came out in a timely manner and were great. But were then told that there was No steaks or prime rib left for the evening. And so 4 of us had to make alternative choices. 15-20 mins later we were then told that there were in fact a few Black Diamond steaks left, which triggered 3 of us who originally wanted steaks to delete our alternative choices back to steaks. Then when our dinners came out 4of us who had ordered fries were served tater tots instead with no mention of fries also being out. One of our guests had ordered the “special of the night” which was the meatloaf was told he had no meatloaf. So he was offered a steak for the cost of the “special” (which was a generous offer. And then the Soup of the day was a cheese & sausage soup, which they were also out of, so our waitress had said would be complimentary for 2 of us because there was not enough for both to get a proper serving of. But we were still charged for. There were also no mushrooms & onions on our steaks which we were still charged for. So at the end of our meal 3 of us in our dinner crowd who all have extensive restaurant experience all agreed that the miscommunication between the kitchen staff to the waitstaff about the actual inventory was unsatisfactory. And would suggest for them as a team to tighten up their communication. So please guys none of “us” like to eat at the “chain restaurants” and prefer to keep these privately owned establishments in business. And hope that ya”ll can tighten up your communications to stay in...
Read moreWe arrived and were seated at 6:30. There were four other parties at tables so it was not at all busy. We ordered beer and water with lemon. The water was brought out with no lemon. The bartender brought out our lemons in his bare hands and put them in our cups...during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our food orders were taken around 6:50. Our food did not arrive until 8:15!!! Our drinks were never refilled during this time. Many take out orders left the kitchen while we sat waiting. Our waitress did not check on our table or offer any explanation. When our food arrived, my husband’s meal was not brought out and one order was missing fries. When we finally got our waitress’s attention, to say my husband’s food was not brought out, she said it would be out in ten more minutes. By 8:30 his food had still not arrived. Other take out orders were leaving the kitchen. After being there two hours with empty glasses and one meal missing we asked for our check and to take my husband’s meal off. They got our check, which still had his meal on it, that we still had not received and told them we no longer wanted. While they were fixing that, a meal was brought out to my husband, but it was not what he ordered. The waitress never apologized or acknowledged the empty cups, or the fry order left off. The food we did get was very good, but that could be just because any food at 8:15 after waiting almost two hours...
