Visiting the Burger Shop in Forney, Texas, served up a varied experience. The establishment gives off a nostalgic feel with its black and white tiled table tops, reminiscent of a 1950s diner. The cleanliness was commendable, making it a pleasant place to dine. The journey through their menu, however, was a bit of a rollercoaster. The central attraction, the Jalapeño Cheeseburger, was somewhat underwhelming. While the bun was well baked and fresh, the beef patty did not meet expectations. It was rather unseasoned, diminishing the overall taste. The addition of Tabasco hot sauce was a unique touch, but it wasn't quite enough to lift the flavor profile of the burger. The sides also left a bit to be desired. The mac and cheese was a simple arrangement of penne pasta with cheddar cheese, lacking the creaminess of a traditional cheese sauce, rendering it dry and bland. The tater tots were too hard and crispy, which made them less enjoyable. And for what they offered, the price points for these sides seemed somewhat steep. That said, not all was disappointing. The Philly Cheese Steak was indeed a standout, superbly prepared with delicious bread. The accompanying corn elote was also a delightful treat, bursting with flavor. This pair was definitely the highlight of the meal. Despite the inviting and clean interior, the wait time was a bit more than desirable. Nevertheless, it was bearable, if not entirely forgivable. One more star of the visit was our waitress, who was exceptionally nice and helpful. Her attentiveness and efficiency added to the positive aspects of the experience and made us feel welcomed. While it's called the Burger Shop, ironically it was the Philly Cheese Steak that would beckon me back, rather than the burger. Unfortunately, traveling from Greenville, Texas, I'm not sure the overall experience was worth the trip. I wish the burger had lived up to the name of the shop, as that would have made the whole journey worthwhile. The final verdict - a solid three out of five stars. I would hope to see the Burger Shop take customer feedback into account and work on enhancing the burger and side options to truly make a visit to Forney an unmissable dining experience.

The food was great. Really liked the burgers, fries and shakes. The reason I gave a low review is due to the additional hidden costs and charges we found on our receipt that they failed to mention. We bought two combos, one with a shake and sweet potato fries, the other with a tea and sweet potato fries. They had told us the shake would have a small up charge but it was an up charge of $3.49. They also did an up charge for the sweet potato fries even though it is the same price as the regular fries (after I asked if it’s included in the combo). That was $2.49. So the burger $9.99, with the combo cost which is $5.99, they add the $3.49 and $2.49 up charges as well. In total we paid close to $22 for just one “combo”. We were so baffled and paid and left. But not sure if we will return when there is no clarity on up charges. We didn’t feel comfortable in arguing or debating on these too.

Being 8 months pregnant, I was craving a greasy cheeseburger, so we opted for this place based on pictures posted. Sad to say, we were let down. I ordered the guacamole burger, my fiancé ordered a double mushroom swiss with a coke, and we shared an order of seasoned steak fries. Per the menu, the patties are cooked medium unless otherwise specified. Medium was fine for us, so we didn't specify otherwise. We received our food. Everything looked delicious except for the fact that my guacamole burger had a small amount of guacamole, and the mushroom swiss burger had only a few mushrooms. We take our first bite, and we realize the patties were more of a medium well, so they weren't what we were looking forward to. The soda was a bit flat too, but for me, the fries were the best part. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned. My fiancé on the other hand, didn't like the seasoning.

Ordered with Uber Eats, delivery. The burger was correct and tasted good, but the drinks were completely wrong. I ordered one Diet Coke and one Unsweet tea and they gave us two regular Cokes. Which was weird because they wrote the word “Diet Coke” on the side of one of the styrofoam cups but we tasted them both, they were both just regular coke. Communication was lost somewhere. Regular coke is super syrupy and sugary 😖 it’s thick like medicine! I had to pour it out in the sink and get my own soda. The burgers are good but I will never order a combo from here ever again. They just never get it right, this is my 2nd time buying from here. The combo is so much higher priced too, you think you’re getting a good deal but then they get the order wrong. You might as well order a burger and get a soda from your fridge at home. That’s too bad, I was really looking forward to a good burger place and it appeared promising at a glance. Don’t even get me started on the milkshakes, I tried those the first time I placed a takeout order here. “Made with BlueBell ice cream.” BlueBell is delicious by itself, but it’s not that sweet, so when you add milk and blend it, it’s like ordering a $5.00 icy chocolate milk. I would rather just have a plain pint of chocolate BlueBell. The Uber driver delivered everything that was handed to them perfectly and delivered to me on time, it’s not her fault the drinks were incorrect. Good luck Burger Shop, I am rooting for you. You can do...

UPDATE: I wish the review below was still valid. Unfortunately, these people must have either a new cook, a new owner, OR BOTH! The service has gone way down, and I can’t pay them to cook my wings right or season a burger! Oh, well
. I guess I’ll have to find a new burger joint

I am a FIRM BELIEVER in SEASONING FOOD!!! I will say that I did not have the highest expectations (that had nothing to do with this establishment, as this was my first visit...); because I’ve given a few local spots a try since moving to the area, and I’ve not been impressed AT ALL!

So, let’s dive in, shall we?!

Let’s start with the quality of the seasoning: These wings (and even the steak fries) were seasoned to PERFECTION! This is coming from a soul food connoisseur with a very sophisticated palate... SEASONING ON EVERYTHING: CHECK!✅

Special requests: I am a medium steak girl, but my wings have got to be well done! I asked for “extra-EXTRA well done.” They weren’t as crispy as I’d cook them at home, but I can tell they put a true effort towards getting them as done as I requested. A++ for THAT EFFORT! ATTENTION TO DETAIL: CHECK! ✅

Other pluses: They serve your food with the infamous “restaurant ranch,” and they make elote! They have good customer service...

I’ll take it! They have earned a repeat customer today! We will be back, and I highly recommend stopping by this place! I’ll probably need to run every time I eat here, BUT OH, WELL!

THANK, ‘THE...
