We normally get our delivery/takeout from Golden Wok but it's never available (with postmates nearby) anymore and the family was wanting some Chinese food delivered... So I looked up a few different places around town and read some reviews, and (God only knows how) this place looked like it would be acceptable, if not quite as good as our usual favorite, so I thought "Why not give it a try?" (I had no inkling, if course, how painfully aware of the answer I would be in just a short time...)
The food came and was hot and smelled alright, and there were actually a suspicious amount of free items in the box, as well. Upon opening the containers I began to have some pretty serious doubts about this food. The meat in the lo mein we ordered was most definitely not beef (and no, I'm not suggesting it was someone's beloved pet or anything, but it was the color of chicken and the consistency of some sort of strangely breaded tofu or something.) My cats wouldn't even eat the "meat" if that paints a better picture of the complete and total lack of quality that I'm talking about here.
Once you get past the weird appearance and textures of this food, it all tastes like poop, cardboard, and sawdust... the breading on my sweet and sour chicken literally tasted like the inside of a musty cabinet. This would all have been bad enough, except when I went to leave my driver a tip, I discovered that the restaurant had overcharged me by nearly $60 over the final price that it should have been. (My estimated total was $51 and the hold on my card was $63... my end total was like $113 before driver tips or anything.)
I don't know about anyone else, but after being charged over $100 for what was supposed to be $50 in food, that ended up being inedible, from a restaurant I only chose to try because my first two choices weren't available, I'm seriously unhappy. Would not...
Read moreI recently had the chance to try a new Chinese restaurant, and overall, it was a positive experience. The standout feature was the lunch special pricing, which was exceptionally affordable and perfect for a budget-friendly meal. The portions were generous, ensuring you leave feeling satisfied without spending a lot.
The restaurant itself was quite spacious, offering a comfortable environment to enjoy your meal. While the food wasn’t extraordinary, it was decent and met expectations for the price point. I ordered the lunch special, which included orange chicken and egg drop soup. The orange chicken had a pleasant flavor, and the egg drop soup was a comforting choice. The rice that accompanied the meal was also satisfactory, complementing the main dishes well.
If you’re in the mood for a quick and inexpensive meal, this place is definitely worth a visit. It’s a solid option if you’re looking for something affordable...
Read moreOMG!!! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! You can't tell from the outside, but China Garden has some of the best Chinese food in town! It's just as good as Wu's at less than half the price. Have tried many things on the menu and they are all impressive, especially the Crab Rangoon!(which doesn't come with sweet & sour, you have to ask for it) Huge portions at low prices, you just can't go wrong with anything on the extensive menu. It's owned and ran by the nicest family. Mom and dad cooking and the kids taking care of customers, plus they almost always throw in some free stuff if you come in at the end of the night. Not exactly the best spot to go sit down for a meal, but it's the best take out Chinese in town for sure. Inside tip, the off menu Tomato Beef soup is only available Friday and...
