A couple years ago I (Knotty's Custom Carpentry) was working on a property flip in the south valley, the owner brought us burritos from Abuelita's... they were so good and hearty!!! Post pandemic shut downs; we decided to go out for Saturday morning brunch to Abuelita's. I ordered the tortilla burger w/ green and substituted rice & beans for the fries. My wife ordered Huevos Rancheros w/ christmas and papitas. While we waited for our meals we enjoyed their choos and salsa. Very fresh and delicious salsa (needed a little salt for my palate)! Our meals arrived promptly; as our service was excellent. Never went without needing; as the staff was very attentive to the guests. Though I prefer a more rare meat, my burger was moist and flavorful. Nice job! Nothing worse than a dry burger. The green chili sauce was very well done. Lots of body, nice depth, and great balance of heat. Some of the best I've tried in quite some time. The beans were good, though slightly undercooked (THUS 4 STARS) and the rice was simple, but good. My wife's meal was equally satisfying. The red chili sauce was not bitter as done red has a tendency to be. It was smooth and well done. I'm glad I was able to try the burrito as it was our reason to dine in house. We will return. BONUS They were very clean, friendly, polite, and courteous. They also have a quaint little gift shop with unique items to decorate your home or to send to someone from...
Read moreI remember coming here a long time ago with my family and haven't been back for awhile. We brought my mom here for her birthday during the week and it wasn't busy at all. The place is still nice as ever inside and out. Some of the food was a little disappointing though... The biggest disappointment was the sopapillas. They looked beautiful!! But something was off about them. Too much yeast? Old oil they're frying them in? Both? I couldn't tell. My daughter loves sopapillas but she couldn't finish these ones. She ate maybe half and told me they taste weird. My meal came with two and I barely finished it. I did not like them either. 2. The red chile was mediocre at best. Daughter didn't like the red either. I wasn't much for it either. 3. We had a small baby with us. I was disappointed to find that they don't have a changing table in the bathroom. I thought all restaurants are supposed to have them? So the waitress told us that we can change him in one of the empty booths on the other side. It was back breaking to say the least. The owner or manager (?) looked at us weird when we were changing him over there but it wasn't me who wanted to change him there. Overall my mom had a good birthday and that's all...
Read moreMy family and I have been going here for about 5yrs. I really loved the home like feel and good food. Lately, things have seemed to change quite a bit. Last week, my husband and I went and we had tons of small charges on our bill that we never have had in the past 5yrs. We were charged for chips and salsa, a convenience fee for using a debit card, and instead of charging me for a taco plate, I was charged for everything ala carte. It made the meal come out to almost $2 over the plate cost. It wasn’t a lot of money over and my husband already paid so I didn’t say anything about it. The little girl who waited on us seemed to have been working on her homework when we got there and seemed agitated that we went in. She was a very unfriendly waitress. For the pst several times that we have been there, it’s taken quite a while for anyone to notice that we were there and waiting to be seated. Also, lately, it’s been very empty and awkward. I hope things change. There are way too many restaurants that are competing with them. My advice, figure in all of your cost and adjust your prices like everyone else and give the “free” chips and salsa and no charge for using a card. It just makes customers feel...
