Inexpensive, friendly service and while the food was quite plain, it was fresh, well prepared and tasted very good. I had chile relleno and chicken taco. I enjoyed them both and would order again without hesitation.
That is, except for one big problem. We were there for dinner, eating in, and it was the better path of an hour to get our food after ordering immediately upon being waited on. Meanwhile we watched the to-do customers stream in and out. The cash register area was almost never with 2-3 customers 8n queue to pickup and pay. So we waited and waited (and waited) as the kitchen kept preparing new to-go orders. Our waitress finally went into the kitchen to stand over the cook, to finally get work on our orders (we watched him as the dining room is very small and our table had a pretty good view of the kitchen).
Their take-out service is very fast and it needed to be as there were dozens of orders filled while we waited. If we had either come during a slower time than 6 PM 9n a Tuesday night (they close at 8), or had ordered to-go I would have most likely rated them 5 instead of 3.
I suggest that if you want to eat in rather than to-do, then order to go anyway and sit at the picnic tables outside. We'll be back and this is...
Read moreI lived in oracle for over 13 years, I grew up there with my father Albert James Carpenter IV, I could never not want to eat at Casa Rivera, they are my true love of authentic Mexican cuisine. I would order their carne asada anyday of the week, I haven't been there for over 6 years and I can still tell you exactly how it tasted! That bitter sweet lime and lemon I would squeeze to soak into my tortilla and perfectly seasoned steak packed into the beautifully made tortillas and topped with their mouth burning perfectly crafted salsa, and their chips they give you are to die for. I hope this place continues to stay as amazing as I remember it. Rudy did a fine job of establishing magic in the heart of Oracle. I really miss this place and I hope someday I can walk up that small entrance way with the left turned stairs and grab a familiar town news paper and have a seat to enjoy some delicious food and talk to the amazing staff that...
Read moreTonight Sophie and I stumbled into what turned out to be a genuine standout—Casa Rivera’s Taco Express in Oracle. Absolutely phenomenal food, the kind that makes you stop mid-bite just to grin at how good it is. Flautas crisped to perfection, a veggie burrito so good it outclassed anything I’ve eaten in the past two weeks (and that list includes Pasadena, Manhattan Beach, Salt Lake City, and even Vegas).
What makes it sing is the whole package: welcoming charm, swift service, prices that don’t make you wince, and food clearly made with pride. It’s rare to find a spot that feels this effortless yet delivers so well.
If you’re passing through or staying local, don’t miss it—Casa Rivera’s is one to recommend...
