If you are like me, after a cold, hard morning skiing, one wants a good meal to warm you up and refuel for a hard afternoon. If you agree, do not go to the John Paul Lodge.
Cold, uninspired chicken fingers were served to me after I asked for the chicken schnitzel (which was unavailable at noon on a Sunday????) While I can certainly understand that food gets cold, I was exceptionally surprised when I picked one up and it was cold to the touch. Thinking maybe the inside was still warm I took a bite.I might as well have gone outside and ate snow instead considering how cold these fingers were. The only way I could choke them down was with a mountain of BBQ sauce.
Unbelievable that a lodge at a premiere ski resort in Utah can have such terrible food during lunch time. I didn’t realize I was paying an arm and a leg to have what amounts to a 10th graders lunch.
Miserable food (and only 4 chicken fingers at that) with too large of a price tag ($18.) Go to needle lodge for a better experience.
My father in law had the potato leak soup. Good thing we stayed at the lodge for a few minutes as he ran to the bathroom about 10 minutes after eating it.

Read moreThis is probably the best spot at Snowbasin. Location is pristine, right below Mount Ogden, and the olympic ski race starts from the 2002 winter games. Its price high, a la sporting events or movie theater, but high quality all around. The views from the circular set lodge are amazing and normally the crowds are less than what you'll find at other places on the resort. The skiing around this lodge is mostly technical and fairly difficult, so unless you plan to traverse immediately back over to Porupine and Needles, be prepared for some of Basin's most challenging and...
Read moreSetup like a cafeteria- service was quick at each staging area for the various options and checkout was smooth. If you like a hint of German flavor, they have some menu items for you! I opted for the chicken and waffles and it was amazing! Well prepared, BIG portion and a perfect boost to recharge before getting back on the slopes! The waffle itself was by far one of the best I’ve had anywhere. The views were also amazing to watch people hiking up after the tram and catching some chute runs. Great recharge and refuel next to a...
