If you’re driving up or down the Highway 17 to the north of Phoenix, The Pie Box is a mandatory stop. Just do it. Trust me, you’ll be grateful that you did. It’s more than just a bakery; it’s an experience, a memory in the making, and a truly delicious escape. You’ll know you’ve stumbled upon something truly special: a beautiful rustic bakery called “The Pie Box,” perfectly nestled in a charming humble setting just off Highway 17. The setting alone is worth the visit. It’s idyllic, reminiscent of a picturesque farm, creating a vista of peaceful countryside.

The intoxicating aroma of freshly baked pies hangs heavy in the air, a symphony of sweet and savory notes that further enhances the welcoming ambiance. Your senses are instantly heightened, anticipating the deliciousness to come. Outside, a small, charming patio offers additional seating, providing a perfect spot to savor a slice of pie while watching the tranquil countryside go by – a true escape from the everyday hustle.

The Pie Box refreshingly avoids any pretentiousness, instead offering a nostalgic and welcoming atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. Stepping inside is like stepping back in time, but with a modern twist. The interior decor is authentically modest, a testament to simpler times. Vintage pie tins are cleverly displayed as wall art, and comfortable, mismatched chairs invite you to relax around worn wooden tables, each with its own unique story to tell. The overall vibe is undeniably warm and inviting, reflecting a simpler time while offering a genuinely modern baking experience.

Head straight over to the fridge, a treasure trove of pie possibilities, showcasing a rainbow of tempting flavors. But let me tell you, the strawberry-rhubarb is an absolute must-try. It’s to die for! A perfect blend of sweet and tart, that irresistible gooey filling, a hint of warming cinnamon, with just the right amount of vanilla, and a satisfying textural contrast of the crust in every bite was perfect. It is literally one of the best pies I’ve ever had the pleasure of devouring. And don’t overlook the cookies! These were also crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside - brilliantly done, exhibiting the perfect balance of sweetness and coconut flavor. With just these two treats, I was already in a jovial mood, ready to embrace the day with a sugar-fueled smile.

Beyond the barn itself, there are cute little spots sprinkled around outside, both on the patio and behind the Pie Box, perfect for finding your own little nook to enjoy your food and soak in the atmosphere.

Now, for the only catch - price per slice of pie. Some might initially balk at the price, thinking it’s quite pricey. But I’d have to wholeheartedly disagree. I’d have to say, it is absolutely worth it. The quality of the ingredients, the care in the baking, and the overall experience justify the cost, and the time spent during the stop. We do it almost every time we make the trip home from Phoenix to our home in Prescott Valley.

Hopefully, one day, they’ll make a peanut butter pie. Maybe one day they’ll...

This place is a family tradition for holidays and to regroup as family over dinner. This tradition has been in our family for about 50 years. Restaurant-all the food is good, breakfast is amazing with in door and out door seating. All the servers are very professional and overall just wholesome good people making a living. If you’re from out of town, this is the spot you most definitely need to visit. Pie Box- quality pies and during the holidays for pick up their process is a piece of pie. Preorder a head of time folks! Giving the cure time to prepare as they bake thousands and thousands of pies. Pick them up by checking in at the center of the pie box where they will ask you for your name and how many pies you have ordered, and they will mark you off on the sheet as present, you will be given a number while another member of the crew gathers your order. They will yell your order out when it’s ready. Completely coffee is available as you wait a “reasonable” amount of time. The later you arrive the busier it is. Don’t forget to take a picture with the John Deer tractor. My favorite place to stop for an excellent selection of pie on our way to or from Phoenix. They have fruity pies, fruit crumb pies (my fav), cream pies (banana, coconut, chocolate, key lime), pecan & bourbon pecan (haven't tried but I'm sure are excellent just like every other one I have tried!). I can't possibly remember every flavor they offer... You can buy the whole pie 🥧. Pie by the slice. And I heard they've recently started offering your choice of selecting different slices from different pies to create a pie full of all your favorites 😋 They are so delicious I can't say enough about how really yummy these pies are! They also have other desserts and sweets if pie isn't your thing. I am just as sure they all taste great too! There's a restaurant located next door that also serves great food if you're looking to stop for a great meal and dessert! If you're too full...take something home. You won't regret it 😉 Staff are always pleasant, professional, helpful, informative and welcoming. Definitely...

Oh wow. You have this beautiful rustic bakery that focuses on pies, right by the highway. It's on a barn on a farm type of setting - not pretentious and rather nostalgic. The decors, the vibe, are all authentic and reflects the past in a welcoming way. Head over to the slice fridge and grab various flavors of pies. The bourbon pecan is to die for. Perfect blend of pecans, the gooey stuff, cinammon, and crunch. It is literally one of the best pecan pies I've tasted. The coconut macaroons were also crisp and chewy - brilliantly done. Just with these two, I already was in a happy mood. I don't think they used fresh peaches for the peach pie but oh well, you can't have everything (or perhaps it is not peach season). The only catch - $7 per slice of pie. Yes, it's quite pricey. But I'd have to say, it is worth it. If you're driving up/down to the north of Phoenix, Pie Box is a must stop. Just do it. You'll be grateful that you did.

We came here on Memorial Day weekend around Noon and a lot of the pie slices were sold out. Come early for all the flavors! The Pie Box is for take out pie slices, whole pies, pastries, and fudge. The restaurant is inside the general store in the middle. If the Pie Box is out of the flavor you’re looking for, you may be able to find it in the general store. There are cute little spots outside on the patio and behind Pie Box to enjoy your food. The lemon meringue was the best I’ve ever had. It came from the fridge and was refreshing for a hot day. 🍋☀️Full of fresh lemon flavor and a good balance between sweet and tart. The crust had a good crumb and wasn’t too heavy or thick. The pecan pie was pretty sweet. It had fresh pecans and the filling wasn’t too heavy. Would be great with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream! If you’re looking for a bigger slice of pie that’s very rich and sweet, this may not be for you!
