My daughter and I showed up 11:05, first ones there for lunch. We sat at the bar, but I had to ask the hostess, which was the bartender, to wipe down the bar, because there was something funky on the bar that should have been wiped clean probably the night before. We were given their paper menus, food and drinks, that were beyond the use of the life of the paper. My menu was so used that the paper was wrinkled with what appeared to be water soaked that the typed words were smeared, hardly readable. We ordered our drinks, which happened to be the best part of the meal and experience. We ordered a BLT and Mac&cheese with pulled pork. The BLT wasn’t made with sourdough bread, it was white bread that was lightly toasted on one side and not toasted on the other side which made the bread on the soft, soggy side. The bacon was cold, like it was leftover from the day before and not even warmed up. The fries were also cold, not freshly cooked at all, they were dark colored reminiscent of being cooked in old funky oil and had a wrinkled look to them like they have been sitting under a heat lamp till the freshness was sucked out of them…were the fries leftover from the day before like the bacon? The mac and cheese was tasty, but it was nuked in the microwave intensely that it burned the skin to a blister when accidentally touching the dish. The service was quick enough, but the place is dirty, the prices of the food and drinks are 5 star prices, but Saguaro Corners is nothing more than a dive bar trying to pass itself off as some fine dining restaurant experience. Salty Dawg ll on Broadway, Famous Sam’s on Golflinks and The Dugout (formerly Home Plate) on 22nd has much better food at better prices and the drinks are also priced better. This was my second attempt at trying Saguaro Corners since they reopened, with less than a pleasant experience. I will not be going back. It’s this… if you’re going to charge 5 star prices, then give 5 star ambiance, 5 star food, 5 star cleanliness, 5 star staff appearance and not anything less than that of a sports bar or even a dive bar. They may be fooling themselves and others that rated their reviews at 5 stars, but they’re not fooling me. It’s really a shame, because they really, really, really need to do better in every Corner of the Saguaro. Four...

When the waitress finally came around, I asked her to clean the table too. 5 minutes later the same hostess, who I previously asked, showed up to wipe the table with a grimace on her face. The dining room was empty, 3:15 in the afternoon. I wanted to order a Cobb salad with salmon. Cobb salad with turkey is $17. To add turkey to a salad is $6. To add salmon to a salad is $9. One would normally expect to delete this turkey and add salmon the cost will be $20. Instead I was told that couldn't be done. All she can do is delete the turkey and add the salmon for $9 on top of the 17 for a total of $26 for a salmon salad. When I told her I didn't agree with that philosophy, she became short-tempered and rude. Told me to pick something else. And then she stomped away. I had to call her back and tell her I'm ready to order. And that was the tone that persisted for the rest of my stay. It looks like an older gentleman who appeared to be the chef delivered my salad. The salad was good and he was polite. Since the waitress was nowhere to be seen, I had to ask the chef to send the waitress over for my rest of my order. The waitress did return to refill my water, but the iced tea was ignored. The salad was tasty but very small for $17. Half the size I would expect for that price, for a turkey cobb salad. I ordered the fish and chips next. Fish was tasty and the portion was reasonable. The fish was delivered hot. The fries were soggy, lukewarm and dripping with oil. The waitress's attitude was a bit more chipper. Later, she did come back and refill my tea. I was visited by a bevy of quail as well as a young javelina which walked right by my table next to a big window. In that regard the atmosphere was quite pleasant unfortunately dampened by the staff, the pricing of the salad, and the...
Read moreWhen I was a kid, this place was surrounded by desert for miles, no homes anywhere near, a short drive from Saguaro National Monument. Yes, back when the park was designated a National Monument. Saguaro Corners had a reputation as an elegant establishment where you could watch the wildlife while dining. Today the new housing market’s cancerous growth has encroached on this historic treasure as it butts up against the Rincon’s, polluting everything once beautiful, chasing off the wildlife. But Saguaro Corners has adapted to the cancer and is still hanging in there after all these years. Bravo!
My girlfriend and I both enjoy their dog-friendly patio. I suppose her dogs enjoy it, too. But the patio is often full, so we usually opt to sit at the bar (well, not the dogs). The bar is mellow and you’ll often end up chatting with the customers seated next to you. TVs above the bar in case you want to watch sports or cooking shows or whatever is playing. I do wish the personnel could turn down those fans over the bar a speed or three as it can get downright drafty.
Good drink selection. Food’s OK — overpriced comfort food. Fish & chips at $22 for example… or the $17 burger, another $1.50 to add bacon… Prices presumably justified by the generous heap of overcooked fries, most of which will remain uneaten. The menu offers plenty of deep fried possibilities. Couple next to us had the Curds of Amazingness. They ate at most a third and left the rest… looked Amazingnessly gross.
Atmosphere is a highlight, with that easy going sunny feel we Tucsonans love after a hike in the Rincon’s or a drive around the park. Or a drive from your new gated "community"...
