I've gone to this restaurant 3 times over the past 6 years and they've never really improved at all. I'm a very patient person, extra so with food service workers after having endured the industry myself. After hearing the management changed we decided to give them another go. We came in on a weekend around 3:30pm, well before the evening rush. The place was "average" busy, half full but not packed. The sign at the front said please wait to be seated. We waited a few mins, no employee said anything to us. Nothing. There was no sign of a hostess, but multiple servers were running around serving. So we double checked the sign, yep, pls wait to be seated. A few people waiting outside the door behind us now, we waited a few more mins. Radio silence, finally we flagged down a server and asked to be seated, she begrudgingly took us to a table. Waited awhile, watched the little robot for a bit. No one came by, we watched a server bring the people seated after us drinks. We flagged down the server who sat us asking if she was also serving this area or if she knew who was. A minute later a server came to take our drink order, which came out about 5 mins later. She came back a few mins later to take our food order, a burger, fries, tots, and 2 sandwiches. We hung out, drank, watched other tables look annoyed at having to wait so long to pay their bill. At another table a guy got up to flag someone down for a to go box. The drinks were flat, had no carbonation at all. After about 15 minutes one (1) of our sandwiches came out, minutes passed, while the rest of us watched both the people who came in after us enjoying their large pizza and our own friend enjoying their sandwich. No one came to our table the entire time, after 15+ MORE minutes, the rest of us still have not received any food. NO ONE came to check on us, at all, in this entire 35+ minutes since receiving drinks. One of us had to get up and flag someone down to ask what is happening, he didn't know anything and went to go find out, 5 minutes later no update from anyone. The entire place seemed to be in chaos with no one knowing how to manage or run a restaurant at all, and it wasn't even crowded, or super busy. But they got new indoor ceiling lights now, which is nice I guess....
Read moreI would consider myself a Fish and Chips critic. I've had great fish, bad fish, and passable fish. So when I arrived at this restaurant and saw that Fish and Chips was sold on Friday, I obviously had to get it.
Fish: 5/5 For one, the Fish. This fish was the best seasoned fish I've ever had on this type of dish. It beats out every other restaurant in taste. I would absolutely love to know exactly what seasoning was on it, as this was an incredible job. The crust was crunchy, which is good, however it also wasn't sturdy. The fish collapsed under its own weight when I picked up one end, which honestly is a matter of preference. I personally prefer to be able to hold one end and keep it together. 5/5 stars.
Fries: 3.5/5 The Fries were well seasoned and quite good. They weren't particularly crispy, but they did good for the task at hand.
Other: I tried a hush puppy for the first time tonight, and I wasn't a fan, so I won't rate it. I'm sure others would like it, as I'm considered quite picky by everyone I know. I also did not try the coleslaw.
Service: The service here was fast. We were seated almost instantly and the waitresses were quick to refill our drinks. The added robots carrying around food was interesting, and kept the toddler with us distracted, which was nice.
Conclusion: If I lived in Heber-Overgaard, I would come here every Friday for this dish. The fish wasn't quite as sturdy and solid as I would have hoped, but it had to be the best tasting one. The fact that it's only available on Fridays means that it must be freshly delivered that day, so I had no fear of experiencing a frozen fish. Well done. Would come...
Read moreI went here for dinner a few weeks ago with my husband and parents. When I got there, my husband left to go wash his hands. The waitress came and delivered our menus while he was in the bathroom and told me we needed to decide quick because the kitchen was closing in 2 minutes.. Rather than telling us they were closed when we got there, they seated us and allowed us to order. We felt that we deserved the same level of service and quality food that any other customer would receive at any other time. Instead, our alfredo came out at room temperature.. like it was on the counter ready to be put in the fridge and served as is... since the kitchen was likely "closed" by the time our order came in. I had to request they microwave it for me.. which is absolutely ridiculous. The food was obviously not fresh and they obviously didn't care. She returned my food a minute later and it STILL wasn't hot.. just to give you an idea of the food they served us. I also ordered an ice cream desert that was served before my food.. and it melted before I got my plate back the second time.. I live here in town and we usually visit this restaurant often but we haven't returned and don't plan to. The food and service were unacceptable and for the price they charge, this place ripped us off big time. All customers- from open to close, until they lock the doors and go home- should receive the same quality of service, wether it's an hour after they open or an hour before close. If you don't want to serve people close to closing time- TELL THEM...
