Franklin Inn is a casual Mexican restaurant. It serves a variety of appetizers, entrees, sides, desserts, and drinks. The restaurant is currently trying to hire employees for many positions, and that understaffing might explain the long waits. I waited 50 minutes for my food to be brought out. My waitress had a warm personality and seemed to care about her customers. As for the food, I liked the tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa. My vegetable fajita was reasonably good. My husband did not enjoy his steak fajita at all, and he said that it lacked flavor. Our taste buds like only slightly spicy foods, but we recommend that the cooks here add more seasoning.

Dina was our waitress. She was very attentive and accomodating. She made great recommendations for drinks and meals. We ordered house (Traditional) margaritas. I recommend to order one jar of margarita per two people. Two full jars of maragaritas was too much for two people. They were very strong, but we can appreciate that. We prefer a little sweeter, so we ordered a few shots of agave syrup(gave us indigestion later, we think) to mix in. Phil, the lead bartender delivered it himself. Phil explained their margarita recipe is half tequila, half triple sec and margarita mix. We talked for a few. Awesome guy; invite him for drinks. @justlightthefire

I've been here once before. We got here for dinner on a Tuesday night around 5:45 when it was already packed. We didn't have to wait too long to get a small table. They had a limit on the amount of time you could stay - maybe 75 minutes? It seemed like plenty of time but they were so busy that it took a while to get our orders placed and food received so I felt a little irritating at that point. We were able to eat quickly and get done though. The way staff was nice. And the food was tasty. Overall I think it is The best tasting Mexican food I've had north of Pittsburgh, so I imagine we'll probably be back.

Margaritas (on the rocks), enchiladas, anything off of the "chef's specialties" part of the menu, spicy grilled shrimp & OHHHH THE WINGS! I know, you wouldn't typically think of wings for a Mexican restaurant, but they are amazing here! They grill them after they cook them, so they have tasty char lines & crispy skin (chewy wings are the WORST, in my opinion). They are definitely on the spicy side, so order a margarita to cool your mouth. They are the perfect combo of pleasure & heat for me, though.

I always get an extra side of the hot sauce to play with, too. They take about 20 minutes to make, so don't be surprised; but the entree items can come out so quickly that I like the extra time because I can get in mire date time & maybe another drink! Haha.

Ok, enough about the wings... To be honest, I didn't like this place that much before someone explained to me that I was ordering wrong. Order off the "chef's specialties" & you can't go wrong. It's when you try to build your own meal that things can go awry. Leave it to the pros, people!

OH! And their spicy shrimp! They are also grilled & I wish I could watch them season these things... I don't like shrimp most places, but the flavor is so awesome & they've always been cooked perfectly. I don't think they're listed as their own thing, but they are listed as 'add-ons' to other meals; so when I'm the mood for them, I just ask I could have a side order & they have always accommodated.

Finally, try to sit in the back room. It's much quieter than the front & I like the darker lighting, too. We don't really bring the kids here because it is kind of small inside & kids need a little extra elbow room, but maybe cozy is a better word? Nice local joint with a cozy atmosphere & very tasty, authentic food &...

We live about 2 minutes away - so I really want to love this place and be able to support a local restaurant. The problem is, the service is awful and the food is really mediocre.

On more than one occasion the guy who often hosts/manages (is he related to owners, one of them, not sure) - he's so arrogant, condescending and rude. The most recent time was after we used the "NoWait" app to join the line. It said we had a 45 minute wait when we signed up. Less than 15 minutes later, we got a text that our table was ready. Well, we weren't there yet - we showed up about 20 minutes later with our 18month old little one in tow while it was snowing buckets outside. He told us - rudely - that he'd texted over 30 minutes ago and he can't 'just hold table forever' while motioning to his full waiting area. My partner was very pleasant, apologized and asked what the process was from there. He said he'd have to get us 'back on the list' - we asked how long that would mean and he said it's currently about an hr.

So, we said "Oh you mean put us at the bottom of the list". He said yeah, of course, you weren't here when your table was ready, so it's an hour wait now.

Actually, sir, the right thing to do in this situation is to seat us at the next 2/3 top you have - you didn't lose our table earlier and we didn't just join the line. It's not anyone's fault if your line moves more quickly than you anticipate - but how you handle it is completely within your control.

Don't adopt a technology if you can't implement it correctly.

Sorry, we won't be back - and we'll let as many people as we can know about our experience. It's sad when an owner/manager can ruin a place so completely, when they had the opportunity to make someone's...

The food is amazing. The chips are absolutely perfect, and everything is incredibly fresh as they tout local ingredients. Drinks are great; huge servings, and creative twists.

This place is interesting, though. We've been twice, both weeknights and it was completely slammed, with an hour wait.

Downside that might keep us from coming back;

Everything about this place feels too big for the space. The space around the bar is jammed with people, uncomfortable to sit or even stand. Often, there were discarded glasses and chips yet to be bussed. Every surface was sticky.

In the dining area, wobbly tables are too small for the chairs and for the amount of plates you'll collect. It feels very crowded. We were sat in the middle of the room both times, and it was so uncomfortable. Servers were just walking around us, my purse on my chair got snagged a few times as people passed by. The decor is fun and eclectic, but even that started to feel claustrophobic; over sized pictures hung in tight spaces.

With the amount of people between patrons and staff, it was so loud it was difficult to carry a conversation. This was 7 pm on a Tuesday, filled with upper middle aged NH families and couples. Not a rowdy bar, just the low ceilings and unfortunate acoustics.

Not sure if the AC was slipping that day, it was really humid.

The place is always buzzing and seems like a local favorite for 40+ years. The amazing dishes really speak to that. But the dining experience might be due for an investment. But maybe it's part of the local charm we just didn't appreciate? 🫣 Or after a long day, takeout might...
