I wanted so much to like this place when I moved to Clayton 2 months ago. We finally got a chance to try it tonight. We could not be more disappointed. From the outside it looks very eclectic. A lot going on...Not much suggesting seafood. A antique wagon with metal life size horses. Cool for a texas roadhouse I would suggest. At 6:30 on a Saturday night the place was packed but we didnt have to wait too long for a seat. There was a 2 top available and the young, inexperienced, untrained hostess who was nowhere to be found for 7 or 8 minutes led us to the table and outfitted us with only a antiquated ratty menu. It was confusing. Only half of one page had seafood. No salads. No sign of any sides. After waiting about 15 minutes for a waitress she quickly took our order. I ordered an extra large dungeonous crab and my girl ordered snow crabs. One huge entire crab for me and 3 clusters for her set us back about $70. Nothing special about the taste. Good. Believe it or not, they charge for butter. 1 ounce was like 50 cents and 2 ounces I think was 75. Wow. Talk about cheapskate. We ordered jalapeno poppers for appetizer and for(made from) frozen poppers they were okay. Basically cream cheese inside small peppers and breaded. Note to owner: make your own. No veggies hit our table unfortunately. Not even a parsley sprig. I ordered a beer. My girl a martini. That came about 5 minutes after the poppers. I was thirsty and needed another beer before the crabs. Waitress seemed to avoid our table even though both our glasses sat at the edge where the other waitresses walked by seeing it. (Not saying anything) When she quickly dropped off the plates of crab I asked for drinks. Now, if you ever picked crabs, you know beer is almost necessary. Also, you know it takes a while to pull the meat out of the shell of a huge crab. Now, me, I place the meat in my butter bowl which I add old bay to and eat from there with a fork. This was hard to do from the tiny 1 ounce plastic thimble on my plate (I splurged and ordered 2 ounce but got 1) Oh, I forgot to mention that you actually have to ask for silverware here. The hostess looked offended when I asked her if they had forks but she brougjt them quickly...half way through our crabs. (Couldnt ask eatress simce she didnt come back tonout table after dropping food until the end)I had all but given up on getting anything from our waitress at this point. As I was about to crack open on the last piece if crab, a claw, our elusive waitress came with two bottles. I told her never mind. I didnt catch her name or I would have put it here so you can avoid her...but she was a pretty blonde. All the seafood is ala carte. Nothing is reasonably price on the seafood half-page. If you have never had seafood before then this place would be acceptable since you would.not know better. But, I'm from Virginia Beach and I used to catch blue crabs and have big picking parties. So, I happen to know seafood. I also know what oyster rockefeller means. Etc. This place is an expensive McDonald's version of a seafood sampler shop with terrible service. We wont be back. Every other place around here we have eaten at is spectacular. This place will remain until someone opens a real seafood...
Read moreI don’t know where to start here. We went for a good seafood meal based on the recommendation of a friend. We arrived early since we had been told it gets crowded. We were seated immediately and drinks were brought to our table quickly. The waitperson (Julia?) was very friendly and took our dinner order as soon as we received our drinks. I had ordered a cup of bisque and cold whiting. My wife ordered lobster since it was her birthday and a splurge was in order. We also ordered onion rings. We received our appetizers quickly. The onion rings were overcooked and the bisque was so salty that I found it very difficult to enjoy. Then we waited. And waited. And waited for over a half hour for our main courses. Another patron came to our table and asked how long we had been waiting. When the whiting and lobster arrived, the whiting was, once again over-salted, and the lobster was so overcooked that she couldn’t eat it. It’s a shame since the lobster looked delicious. She actually sent it back telling our waiter that it was inedible. (I agree and I’m not fussy when it comes to seafood.) To their credit, they offered us some perks due to our displeasure with the meal. At that time a manager? Chef? came to our table and explained that they had an issue with their steamer and we wouldn’t be charged for the lobster. I only wish that they had been a little more forthcoming with that information. It’s a shame that I have to leave this review and I would like to give them a second chance. (Note to all restaurants: Stop over salting your food. Salt can be added, but not removed. Let your patrons decide how much salt they want in...
Read moreI haven’t been here for some time and thought tonight would be a great time to go. My boyfriend ordered a hoagie and was served a sandwich. When we were finally able to get the waitress attention her response was “I told them you said a hoagie and they order the hoagies from across the street” Once she returned with a hoagie this time I noticed they had a bag of chips sitting directly on the lunch meat which was (very unsanitary!) As for myself I ordered fried wings and Italiano clams. They didn’t have Italiano wings but she said they would be seasoned with old bay. The clams didn’t have any season at all, luckily I was able to dip them in butter in a attempt to give them some sort of seasoning. After waiting for what seemed like forever my wings came out and they were not battered fried wings. After one disappointment after another I asked for the bill and stated I was only paying for the cocktails which was the only good thing, chili and clams! She still charged for the hoagie and btw she placed that on the table beside us. The waitress was very inattentive she literally sat down right after we placed our order and I had to ask another waitress to go get her. She was completely unbothered that we were obviously dissatisfied! Than we had to wait patiently while she has a personal conversation before cashing us out! Ordinarily I wouldn’t leave a review but I never thought I would still be hungry after leaving a restaurant! I left a message on the bill stating...
