Not gonna lie, this is one of the best local diners I have visited in years. The place feels a bit like a time capsule when you walk in. But that's to be expected considering the "diner experience" is not as popular as it was 20-30 years ago. I loved walking in to see counter seating. The place was very well staffed when I went which resulted in a service experience I have not had since the early 2000s.
My mother and I visited for brunch while we were in town to pick up an RV nearby. She got breakfast and I ordered a Reuben. We had our food within maybe 5 minutes and it was hotter than the bowels of hell. It was not the best Reuben I have ever had, but it was very good and the price was unbeatable.
I don't find myself in Ellwood often, but I will absolutely be stopping here EVERYTIME! To the operator and staff: thank you for staying true to the diner concept and delivering an...
Read moreComfy little restaurant with very nice staff. Only ordered a drink & two sides for a meeting with a new friend. Our waitress was so nice! We were chatting instead of ordering a full course meal and explained that we were just meeting in person for the first time, after messaging each other online. She was just so sweet and accommodating. Next time I'll order a meal and share my opinion. But the appetizers were good. I have No complaints! And I appreciate their hospitality as my new friend and I had a very nice conversation without being pressured to eat & get out for the next person. I am definitely recommending Christy's Restaurant! I had a smile when I left. And as we were leaving a few other staff actually made a point to say have a great evening! Go & enjoy the atmosphere of pleasantries & get some good food with your family and friends! Don't forget to leave a good tip for...
Read moreOrdered stuffed pork chop and mashed potatoes. Comes out with beef gravy on everything. Waitress asks why I'm not eating it and I tell her I wasn't aware that pork chop would come with beef gravy on it (and on stuffing!?!?). She simply tells me that they put gravy on everything to make the meat taste better. You have to request it without gravy when ordering (meanwhile no mention of gravy on the menu). No effort was made to make it right. No offer to Replace it, ask if I want something different, discount, nothing. Seriously.... Who puts beef/brown gravy on pork and stuffing?! Then just tells the customer that that's the norm like I should have known better. If that's how it 'normally comes, put that on the menu! 2 thumbs down...
