I really wanted to love this restaurant. After waiting for years for something to open up in the old Coconuts we were excited to try this new venue. Yesterday was our second time here, we came for an early dinner to avoid the crowd and also brought friends with us. Nice atmosphere and very clean, the owner is friendly and came around to check on us during both visits. Wait staff is also friendly. Last night my husband and I split the chicken ranch flat bread. On our first visit we also had flatbread, the Hawaiian one, which was just ok, not outstanding. We were really disappointed in the chicken ranch. The toppings were super skimpy and barely any cheese or flavor. And the crust really lacked flavor. It really needed something like another sauce and or cilantro. The chicken was the best part, it was nicely cooked and well seasoned. We also had a side of fries. I appreciate that they are hand cut and they did taste good but were soggy and not nice and crispy. Side salad was fresh, and the ranch dressing (also made in house) was good. Our friends loved their burger and PO Boy. We ate in the open air dining room, and unfortunately kept smelling cigarette smoke from a staff person outside on their cigarette break. Not in a...
Read moreVisited Flamingo's on a Sunday evening. They were out of a significant amount of items on their menu. No flatbread at all. No coconut shrimp, and no coconut chicken (I belive that's what it was).
We had calamari, it was okay, but either the fry oil needed to be changed, or the calamari was cooked too hot or too long, as the breading was very dark, and had a burned taste to it.
My wife ordered chicken chunks, which were lightly breaded. She thought they were pretty good but needed more sauce. My wife had to ask for dipping sauce.
I ordered the "Nashville Hot" chicken sandwich, with fries. The sandwich was a disappointment overall. The chicken was cooked fine, but it was two tenders, not a fillet. The chicken was just breaded, orange colored and had no heat and no flavor really. I was NOT Nashville Hot, which is cayenne pepper and hot oil based. This sandwich had no actual sauce or Nashville Hot aspect to it. It reminded me of chicken tenders from Tyson that have "buffalo" flavor. My fries were pretty good.
Service was pretty good. Interior design is really cool.
Overall, I would still suggest giving them a try. They're new, so we'll go again and see how they develop over a few months after opening and if...
Read moreWe had a great experience, dining on the screened-in patio. We both ordered some of the filling salads, which had a nice variety of crispy lettuces and tasty dressings. The lime vinaigrette was unusual and delicious. I added shrimp to mine, and it was plentiful and very fresh tasting.
The onion rings were hot and crisp, and you had a choice of three dipping sauces.
There is a surprisingly large list of beers and specialty drinks. The house wine was satisfactory, and there are some very reasonably priced higher-end wines by the bottle. They have gluten-free options for those that need them.
Everyone we interacted with was very friendly and efficient. The owner has made it clear on Facebook that she is committed to customer satisfaction.
I understand they had a few bumps in the road when they first opened, which is understandable, but everything worked out great for us.
The prices are reasonable, and there was no surcharge for using a credit card like some other restaurants do. I understand there’s a plan for live music later in the summer.
It’s great to have this property open again. Everything looks clean and refreshed. I imagine we’ll...
