I'm going to give them a five star review, but they DID NOT earn it on tonight's visit!
Grand reopening with "free" cheese coneys ... tonight was a comedy of errors.
It took an extremely long time for our waitress to visit the table to take our order after she dropped off drinks. When our order was finally placed she was called away because it seems the dinner rush was a perfect time for the blonde manager(?) to pull all "her wait staff" into the back for a meeting.
Our order fell through the cracks. We ordered two cheese coneys (that were supposed to be free with the purchase of regular drinks) one gorito and chili cheese fries with chili & cheese on the side. Nothing crazy or super fancy. At least three people asked if we had been helped. "T" (another manager?) came along and once again asked if we had been helped and took our order verbally.
2o mins later my partner got his gorito & cheese coneys. That is a very long time for Gold Star, even if it was an event situation.
Ten minutes later my food finally came out but the fries were covered in chili and cheese so they had to be made again.
Another five minutes pass and I get my fries with everything on the side. There was something on the cheese so that order had to be made ... again.
Because of the length of time it took to get our food "T" said he'd give us a discount. Cool, thanks. Said discount was one free coney ... if you've gotten this far you will realize we should have gotten the coneys free anyway.
We address this with the waitress & she says it'll come off at the register. So up to the register we go ...
It took 15 minutes to get acknowledged at the register! Wow. So the person checking us out starts bad mouthing our waitress, nice. We get handed off to our waitress and still no one can figure out the free grand reopening coneys.
We walked out after paying the total on the original bill because our time was worth more than the wait at this point.
Bottom line: train your staff, get everyone on the same page BEFORE service, PAY ATTENTION...

Wish I could take away more starts making it in the negative I love gold star but I will not be returning to that location🤬🤬🤬🤬 The older lady waitress, gave her the benefit of the doubt for being lil older but then she served two other gentlemen b4 my wife n I but through the course of giving them there order she got there's wrong 5 times and still had not even put our order in And since this post I was asked to take there servery to explain more detail and that they wanted to make it up to me. And so I did only to get a thank you for feed back and nothing done to try and make up the really bad experience.
Update they sent me a $10 gift card !&&(that's no good I tried to use it and the mngr came over to help and said that he didn't understand why it would not work)
I guess the fact that my wife and I ordered at least $30 worth of food and our drinks yeah that's making things better since we went to skyline chili spending...
Read moreWe always. ALWAYS come to a Gold Star when we come up to Ohio for the holidays. Cincinnati Chili may not be everyone's favorite, but it's definitely a favorite of ours! This Gold Star in particular is probably the BEST location to come to. Our server Christie/(Christy?) was and is the most outstanding, kind, generous server we've ever met. Even remembering my mom and sister's faces, orders and what we came up here for two months back!
Even with my Step-Dad and his sensitive stomach, he can't have Cincinnati Chili so he orders the burgers or something chicken-based. He still says it's pretty good for a little fast food joint.
If you want to experience Cincinnati Chili the way it's SUPPOSED to be experienced? (No offense Skyline fans.) Come to this Gold Star in particular. You will NOT be disappointed especially not by their outstanding staff members. 5 stars...
