Swamp II Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Frederic Township

This is one of those hidden gems you hear about. We stopped on our way out to Hartwick Pines State Park after looking for a local "Mom & Pop" place or local favorite. They have great prices & have many specialty burgers & hoagie plus pizza & more. The reviews were all glowing too, so we decided to try it out. They did not disappoint. We're here at the very last weekend of the season, so the atmosphere was very laid back; maybe a dozen or so patrons. The Halloween decor was tastefully done, only adding to the beauty of the fall colors & the ambience of the place. I got the Philly Cheese Steak & asked for pickles instead of chips. Our waitress was a pickle dan as well so she gave me 8 spears at no extra charge. The hoagie was fantastic btw! My fiance got the 1/2 lb Swamp Burger with seasoned fries & a Coke. Our bill was only $25 & I only ate half my hoagie, so now I have donner too. Im only sorry we didn't catch our waitress' name, she was friendly & bubbly; she even credited me for the jukebox because I had spent $5 in credits only to realize the jukebox wasn't playing, it was another system being used. Dropped my daughter off in Gaylord for the week to visit with here mom and sisters. This is a 5hr round trip on the way back home to flint me and my wife got hungry and I did a search for somewhere to eat. Swamp 2 popped up on the list and I read the reviews and we decided to stop in for a bite. We both had the bacon burger and onion rings. Needless to say we were not disappointed. The burgers were made from fresh hamburger hand patted out they were thick and had just the right amount of seasoning and they did not skimp out on the bacon. The onion rings are some of the best I've ever had also, the staff and customers were really friendly and welcoming something you don't get where I live and the building was very clean. Just moved up this way recently and heard they had new owners and a new breakfast buffet. The place was open and inviting, tables were not overcrowded. It's definitely been cleaned up since the last owners. It looks like they continue to improve.

Our server/owner was five stars amazing, patient, and genuine. The breakfast buffet was fresh and hot. Not a single complaint about food or quality. A great taste to everything. She took time to talk to us, listen to our feedback. She was awesome.

But I was completely taken back by the fresh fruit selection and even more surprised to be impressed by it, you really don't think much about it.
