My husband and I recently celebrated our 15-year anniversary with a weekend getaway to Fredericksburg, and Halter Ranch was the perfect first stop! This enchanting winery and restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way from the organic wines to the fantastic hospitality!
From the moment we arrived, we were treated to exceptional service. Our server, Cathy, was knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. We opted for the Classic Red Flight, which was nothing short of amazing. Each wine was expertly crafted.
To accompany our wine tasting, we ordered the braised axis shank and harvest salad, both of which were handmade with fresh, seasonal ingredients. The dishes were not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The classic red flight paired perfectly with our choices.
What truly sets Halter Ranch apart is its commitment to quality and sustainability. From the ancient coastal oak tables fallen from the property to the handmade dishes and fresh ingredients, every detail is carefully crafted. The property itself is peaceful and serene. There is lovely music playing in the background and birds chirping with joy.
We were impressed to learn that Halter Ranch vets all wine tour companies to ensure the right fit, making this a truly special place to visit. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a unique wine country experience, Halter Ranch is an absolute must-visit.
And the best part? Halter Ranch is family-friendly and dog-friendly, too! You can bring your furry friends along to enjoy the beautiful outdoors, making it a perfect spot for the whole family. Cathy was our expert server! She made the whole experience amazing! With over nine years of experience, we highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe came here a few weeks ago, called ahead and they said the tasting room was full but they had spaces outside with cover and fans, so we decided to go. My parents live near their other winery in Cali and wanted to check out the one here. When we got there, the venue is very nice the dining area seemed pretty full but the tasting room was nearly empty. They still sat us outside, which was fine because thatās what we were expecting. We got our tastings and the wine was decent, my wife was a little hungry so we ordered bread and oil, which was advertised as real Tuscan olive oil. We have just returned to the US from living overseas for about 4 years, and had spent the last two summer wine tasting in Italy. So weāve experienced our fair share of real Tuscan olive oil. This might have been real Tuscan olive oil but it had either gone bad or something was done to it to make it taste absolutely inedible. We immediately informed the server, who took the plate away without so much as an apology. She came back a little while later just to tell us āthe chef tasted it and it must be your palate.ā We arenāt snobby people, we were not rude about not liking it, it was a genuine concern because it did not taste right. My wife, who is pregnant, thought maybe it was because of her changing taste but all of us confirmed there was something very wrong. We never once heard āIām sorryā from any of the staff. They did reluctantly take it off our bill once they heard that my parents had been to/would be going to the original location in Cali. This was a very disappointing experience, and of all the wonderful wineries in the area we had not expected to be treated with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHalter Ranch is truly a culinary gem located in the charming Fredericksburg wine Country. I was there with my sister this past weekend for girls weekend and had the pleasure of having an amazing lunch to perfectly start off our weekend. We started with a fall inspired harvest salad that feature gem lettuce, butternut squash, pecan crusted goat cheese, and sprinkled with pomegranates finished with a light vinaigrette that made all the flavors just absolutely pop together! We followed the salad with a very tasty corn and zucchini fritter that was topped with a creme fraiche - you can taste the Halter Ranch pressed Tuscan olive oil coming through all its flavorful crispy goodness. We then finished or, at least tried to with their new signature sweet potato pot pie that was deliciously loaded with caramelized onions to compliment the sweetness of the sweet potatoes. It's covered in a delicious olive oil infused crust that has light signatures of thyme and rosemary. The portion is so huge that not even two of us could finish it! Our server, haley, was very friendly, accommodating, and was the one that made so many great recommendations for our lunch experience. So kudos to Chef Steve and the hard-working and professional Team at Halter for creating such a incredible experience and starting off our weekend on a such a positive note! I highly recommend making reservations, they are typically very busy, so it's...
