What a great experience. I didn't look this place up at all before I arrived my wife always comes across great and unexpected places so I just came along for the ride. So let me set the stage.. You pull up to a rather non descript house/building on the corner a few parking spaces on the side and a few scattered signs signaling to head around back. As you approach a small babbling creek grabs your attention and pulls you towards the door where the patio and pond and elegantly simple entrance instantly evolve before your eyes. Then as you enter its like opening a portal greeted by a cucumber and citrus infused water to drink. It's honestly amazing how the restaurant and bar seem to open into a space larger than the original structure you pulled up to outside. We went early and were able to enjoy the restaurant with few other patrons. Everything was clean and classy and the woman who was serving us was attentive and delightful. Wow I haven't even gotten to my meal yet sorry... the menu isn't shocking has pretty basic things on it, I ordered a cheese burger with bacon jam and my wife got a chicken bacon ranch sandwich the appetizers were a little untraditional which was fun we ordered the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits and gravy were delightful cheddar jalapeño biscuits floating in a almost sausage pepper bisque soup more than a gravy. My burger was perfectly cooked, tender, juicy and flavorful. The bacon jam had a unexpected almost chili like flavor. My wife's chicken sandwich was dripping with cheese and ranch with a healthy portion of crispy chicken. Everything we had, had a unique kind of twist to it. The best way I could explain it was it might not be your mother's home cooking but it was definitely your best friend's mother's. The twist weren't where I would go but they were delicious and made the experience all the more unique. As good as our experience was as we walked out the door the chef caught us to make sure we had a good experience and to me that passion speaks volumes. I will be back there was plenty on the menu I wanted to try and am even more excited about after dipping my feet. So should you give it a try? Hell yes. For the price the experience is worth it I've paid more at restaurants with a fraction of the passion and execution. But just my 2 cents ..or maybe $10...
Read moreThe allure of this place entered my spirit when I found the fresh cut fries adorned on the menu. It set off my foodar alert system and drew me into the quaint setting nestled beside a babbling brook and picturesque pond. Chicken wings infused with coffee and smothered in buffalo sauce was required to begin this dining moment of my life. The blue cheese dressing was more than just a dress - it was in fact a gown that elevated the wings to a level far beyond Earth's atmosphere. The coffee ensured I would not fall asleep while watching television with my wife later that night yet still permitted me to doze off appropriately once hitting my pillow. The garlic bulbs also made it to my table and I believe that made my sleep ever the more restful for I knew I would be fully protected from any vampires that night. The benchmark had to be set, the tried and true test of a place such as this, and so I ordered the burger and to my surprise my wife did the same. As a lady who eats approximately 4 cheeseburgers a year, this was a gamble but she certainly left the table a winner. We stared into each other's eyes as we bathed our taste buds in the house ground burger patty punctuated by the tomato aioli and blessed by the soft yet chewy brioche. The fresh cuts speared my emotions by swinging for the fences of glee and rounded the bases out of professional courtesy. The owner, Adam came over. The bartender had also come by and we discovered they were betrothed and had 2 young kids who will grow old someday and brag to all who hear that their parents own this wonderful establishment. We finished our meal with a bread pudding to go and I requested silverware. A strange move I'm aware, however I wanted to taste it fresh and my wife insisted she was too full for dessert. This dessert suffered its fate of never seeing the outside light as we polished it off anyway whilst I regretted wasting the to-go materials. Read moreI live in the Blairstown area and have visited all the local diners, pubs, and bars multiple times—including The Inhouse, which I've now been to three times.
To start, the food at The In House is better than most other local spot I've tried. Prices are reasonable—typically around $50–$75 for dinner for two. They serve a full pitcher of water at the table, which you can pour yourself—a small but appreciated touch that I personally enjoy.
In my experience, the food comes out a bit faster than average. I didn’t try any alcoholic beverages, but the non-alcoholic options I had were just okay. What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff—mostly young men and women in their early to mid-twenties—were attentive, respectful, and provided excellent service.
When you walk in, there’s a nicely written verse from Matthew on a chalkboard, and you'll spot a few other Bible verses (including some from Psalms) subtly placed around the space. Most patrons probably don’t notice them, but I found it to be a thoughtful detail.
One thing that sets The Inhouse apart is that it’s one of only two local venues I’ve found in Blairstown that features live music. During one of my visits, a decent cover band of young guys (guessing ages 18–25) performed. It was a nice touch to see their parents there too, supporting them and enjoying the evening.
The crowd tends to be a mix—mostly people in their twenties and thirties, along with some older guests in their forties and fifties, plus the occasional family. Despite how full the parking lot may look, it’s never felt too...
