This place used to be my go to for good food, I guess dining alone means you get ignored! I greeted the staff as I came in, and was told to sit any where. As soon as I sat, I was brought menus. Then I sat and sat and sat... no one came over. Finally almost 10 minutes later, I was getting up to leave, a server came over and took away the other place setting. Didn't ask me what I wanted at all. 2 other tables of two came in, they gravitated to them. Another 5 minutes goes by, I was asked what I want to drink, after they served drinks to the other tables of two, I got my glass of water. I ordered a lunch special, Lar nard noodles with a spring roll. 13.00. Poor presentation of the spring roll, poor taste in the spring roll! Costco has better spring rolls in the freezer section! The spring roll was served on a coffee cup saucer, really? You want to charge big prices, which I was willing to pay, at least, have some nice dishes! The noodle dish faded as I ate it, Chinese broccoli was really hard, noodles were mush, chicken tasted old. I was really really disappointed 😞 Really glad I didn't order sushi, who knows how long that was sitting around. The entire restaurant needs a good scrubbing. I guess the owner is too busy at her other location? So so...
Read moreGreat place - solid 4.5 stars. We sat outside and service was good and had decent spacing between tables. Rolls and curry hit the spot, and bathrooms were large and immaculate.
We had the Sushi Cake, a couple lunch specials including a Tempura & Alaska roll (pictured) and the chicken Panang Curry. The rolls were great - even the lunch special rolls, which at many restaurants aren't anything special, tasted great and we're decently sized. We got a couple pieces of squid nigiri (pictured) for one of our party and the presentation was really nice. The Panang Curry was sweeter than I expected; I still loved it, but my partner said it was too sweet for them. I love spicy food/eat it all the time so my gauge may be off, but didn't think it was spicy at all.
All in all, great place in Frenchtown! They only had 6-8 outdoor tables when we went and it wasn't crowded, but I recommend calling ahead during busy times to check availability and/or crowdedness inside - they were serving inside too...
Read moreBamboo House is an interesting mix of Thai and Japanese cuisines. It occupies the middle ground in the area food scene. The casual, family friendly atmosphere was fully on display with a packed dining room. I opted for a spider roll appetizer followed by a Thai seafood dish. Both were disappointing. Spider rolls are best served right out of the fryer. Mine came to the table room temp at best. It was tasty tho. The Triple delight was plentiful tho a little cold. The scallops were gritty and the calamari was over cooked and rubbery. Maybe the blame can be leveled at their success. Perhaps meals sit in the window for a longer time than they should because the servers are over whelmed? Either way, Bamboo House was a decent experience with...
