Server was absolutely phenomenal! Food was bland and unseasoned. We ordered the Phat Boy Platter (I believe that's what it was called) with ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. All were smoked well (gave the ribs the bone-pull test, they all came out like butter!) but the flavor wasn't there and the brisket was dry. Look at the ribs; where's the bark? Tried to douse the meat in bbq sauce; they only offer one kind of sauce (umm, never have I ever been to a bbq restaurant with only 1 kind of sauce, I'm still confused) which was super sweet and had no dimension (no heat, no spices, nothing acidic, just sugar!). The baked beans were the best thing on our plate and the fried okra could have been ok had they hit it with a dash of salt when it came out of the fryer. They didn't seem to offer any elevated or even exciting cuts of meat in the freezers on the retail side and don't serve burnt ends in the restaurant (again, never been to a bbq place that didn't serve burnt ends - like, not on the menu at all?!?!).The rolls that we were served were dry and stale and fell apart when I tried to cut it in half. I'm not even a fan of Bandana's but they're 100,000,001 times better. Perhaps they were having an off day and perhaps we'll return on a different day to see if this was the case. Again, the service was top-notch and the waitress was truly a delight!

The Barnyard Smokehouse restaurant is a mixture of good, bad and strange. The good was my eggs benedict was delicious. The bad was the initial service that I received. I had to ask two waitresses who were filling glasses with ice at the soda fountain, if I could have a menu. One went to get me a menu and without saying we will be right with you, simply went back to filling glasses with ice. A more ambitious young man was apologetic and energetic. The strange is I found the shaved ham to be meager, maybe two ounces, for this to be a restaurant attached to a butcher processing operation. Granted the price for two eggs benedict was only $5.99. However it was strange that you got nothing at all as a side. If you want hash browns, you have to pay for it. If you want a side of gravy, you can't have it LOL. You have to buy an order of biscuits and gravy. On and on, the pricing structure seemed strange at best. With this, all turned out well with a mimosa that cost $3.99. After drinking this, I really didn't care about all the other stuff. LOL

Visited this past Sunday 05/21/23. Two friends had the Sunday German Style Buffet, which they both enjoyed. They both said the German potato salad was very good. Another friend had the ribs. He said they had good flavor, but were a bit tough. I had the smoked porksteak which looked really good, but was quite dry and stringy. The only BBQ sauce they have was very sweet. Odd that they don't offer more choices. I will say the broccoli salad I had as my side was very good! Noy many places offer that. All the meals we ordered came with a drink (soda/tea) and salad bar, which was fresh and also had several fruit options. The service was a bit lacking, although there weren't many tables when we were there at 2:00pm on a Sunday. Had to ask several times for drink refills as they were walking by but not checking on us.

It's okay. Nothing to write home about. Sorry, I was hoping it would be much better. I had high hopes after hearing the ad on 96.7 KCMQ. I drive th'rough Columbia, Mo. 5 days a week. I live in St. Louis and I thought it would be a nice road trip to a new steak house. I had the 16oz. Ribeye and it certainly didn't look to be 16ozs. I have worked at both Ruth's Chris Steak House and Morton's Steak House so, I "know" what a 16oz steak looks like. I had two side dishes, green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy. The green beans were good ! They managed to add some bits of pork to the green beans which added a nice flavor to them. The mashed potatoes were powdered potatoes. They were very similar in consistency to KFC's mashed potatoes. Which is not a bad thing but if I'm going to pay $22 for a steak at least you can make the effort in making "real" mashed potatoes. It's not that difficult to make and it would be a nice addition and accompaniment to the dish. The gravy was a dark gravy which was also "pre-made". I was also hoping for a nice pork gravy to go with the potatoes. I forgot to mention the appetizer we had. It was a sausage and mushroom dip. Since they process their own meat and pork products, I was hoping the sausage would have had more flavor. The mushrooms used for the appetizer were "canned mushrooms" and both were mixed with some kind of cream sauce. Plus, they served several mini french bread crostinis but had too much butter soaked in them. So, in conclusion after having 4 beers, and appetizer and two entrees the grand total came out to be $51 and some change. Not too bad but you "cut corners" to save a buck and in the end it hurts your customers. You are better off cooking your own steak at home but please don't let my review stop you from...

Never again. Worst service ever. Meat was hard, tough & cold. The first waitress forgot about us, over 15 minutes... had to call inside to have someone remind her that she had customers & we were waiting to place our order. Only received half of our order. Asked for the manager, surprisingly, but not surprised he wasn't there. But the fries were good & the second waitress was good (too bad she wasn't our waitress at the start). My husband asked, "No oinions, no tomatoes on his burger... HE'S ALLERGIC TO ONIONS, guess what was on his burger...yep oinions. Never received my salad or water. The lemonade was extra tart. My moms tea was overloaded with sugar, way too sweet. When we finally got to talk to the owner, he made excuses for everyone. Also, he said that them putting the oinions on my husband burger was just miscommunication... now what if the burger didn't come unsymbol & he didn't see the oinions...then what?? Too funny, he offered us a discount, for me not to post this negative yet real review. Wow!! Well, I didn't tell him what happened so that we could get free food or a discount... I told him what happened so he could be aware of how some of his staff treat people. Right is right. Wrong is wrong....
