Opened not even a year ago, this eatery is a diamond in the rough. Ran by a group of Middle Eastern gents, they offer fried chicken, fish, sides and steamed seafood in a combination of combinations. It's a must try at least once. Beware it is in a rough neighborhood.
Ambiance: Built like a beach shack, the location is situated in a rough part of Gainesville, so you might want to contemplate on coming during the day, unless you know someone . Parking is scarce, as it's always packed, but there is a dirtlot around back. The inside is small with no room or table to eat on, so food is always to go. Several of the steamed seafood options along with sides are on display and purchase in the fridge to the right upon entrance.
Food: They offer several types of seafood options both fried and pre-steamed. The fried food, is cooked upon order. The steamed food is precooked, and then refrigerated. Upon ordering they reheat the steam food in a conventional microwave. I would rather take it cold with seasoning and re-steam it at home. In addition to the fried seafood, they also had fried chicken wings, Chinese fast-food style. Prior to giving you your food, they would lather it with seasoning and butter, upon request. Yum!
Service: Nice, professional gents, just trying to make a living, while killing the seafood game in the east side of town. Although they are packed and busy, the food comes at a reasonable time and price, averaging about $10 a plate, but loaded. Better to call ahead, if you know...
Read moreI’ve been a customer with this company for a while but after tonight I will not be back. Not only was the customer service terrible, but the staff tried to tell me I called and switched my order(even though I ordered through UberEats). The cashier that I spoke to over there phone basically told me there was nothing she could do and argued me down about changing my order(when I did not). I then asked to speak with a manager he sounded pretty timid but after a few minutes of debate, he finally gave in and told me I could bring the corn back to get my eggs. Yes the problem was solved, but it took too much back and forth when they could have just told me to bring back whatever was wrong and fix the issue. Now you’ve lost a loyal customer over a simple issue. And lastly, since it seems like this establishment has skipped over training their staff on customer service skills. I decided to give them all some tips on how to treat their customers...
Read moreI ordered online through toast and when I get there for my order, I checked my order and I was missing a few items so I told them what items I was missing. They went on to tell me that I got what I paid for and they weren't adding anything else to my order. I showed them my online receipt which showed the discrepancy on my order. They still didn't complete my order and cursed me. At this point I just asked for a refund. They refused to refund me and told me to call toast to receive my refund. I called toast and they told me that the restaurant is responsible for the refund. The restaurant wasn't honest with me about the refund nor did they get my order correct. Now I'm out of $44. I just want people to be aware of the game being played between this restaurant and toast. If you ever want a refund from this place and you ordered online, the store is responsible for issuing your refund not toast. This was my experience. I'll NEVER order...
