MILKSHAKES ONLY REVIEW * Accurate as of 10/10/23 *
This review is ONLY about the milkshakes because that's the ONLY thing I get from here.
I've lived in galax for over 20 years and this is the best place to get milkshakes. I go almost weekly to get a Hand Dipped Chocolate Milkshake - basic, I know, but absolutely delicious. I have tried a couple of the other milkshakes and while some I disliked, it was solely because I disliked the flavor (I dont like Peanut Butter so I didnt like the Peanut Butter shake) and not the quality. I even get milkshakes for people at work, they even keep a note with all of their flavors pinned in the main office for people to pick! Isnt that wonderful?
As of for speed, I typically call in my order and get there in ~5 minutes. Its always ready for me! The times that I didnt call it in, nearly all of them were fairly quick even during the busier times, I'd say, average of 5 minutes? The longest I had to wait was around 30, but that was an outlier and only happened once out of the over hundred times I've been.
All in all, this is the best milkshake joint around Galax. I'll add photos when I can!
P.S. You CAN...
Read moreMy wife & I collectively recommend the Burgers, Chicken, Steak, Barbeque, Foot Longs, Fries, Floats, Ice Cream, Banana Split (bring a friend or save room). Can't say anything we've tried wasn't goof! Growing up in the 50's & 60's there were many more places like this where the food, selections & service delivered to your car was a great. Sunday afternoons with parents or friends for ice cream floats, cones, sundaes or banana splits. After school with that someone special. Weekend dates at matinees, drive-in movies, put-put golf, fairs or carnivals. Here, experience the nostalgia or first time of having good food and service at excellent prices, delivered dine out the way it used to be. You won't be disappointed! Note: This is one of only four drive-in restaurants left in Galax, Hillsville & Mt Airy that my wife & I enjoyed then & now since retiring back in Carroll County...
Read moreNot sure the deal, but we stopped and placed anorder around 830. We went to ATM came back and we got our milkshakes and waited on the food. That was the point of stopping and placing order was for it to be ready or close to being ready. It was 9:09 and we were still sitting there waiting on food.So I questioned her about it and she tells me she's not allowed to put orders in until we came back. Told her it would been nice to know that, but no one told us that. We would have called it in. Would that even made a difference? I also told her we've done this before and came back. If we had known up front we would had went somewhere else that took cards. And not wasted gas or a fee to go to an ATM. I mean who writes checks now days or just take cash anyways? Also the young girl hardly spoke. No thank you...
