We came upon this place by accident after attending a wedding in a little country church way back in the beautiful mountains of Elk Creek Virginia. Valley Diner is on the left side of the store (21Grocery) and has its own entrance. The inside is clean and tidy. Not a lot of other stuff. A straightforward diner with clean tables and a great staff who are friendly and very accommodating . My husband and I both got Bacon cheeseburgers. He got curly fries and I got Tater tots. We also ordered chili cheese fries as an appetizer. For my taste, the fries could have been crispier, and the chili had a sweet hint to it. That being said, they were smoking hot and fresh, and the plate was FULL. Both burgers appeared to be fresh ground beef, and the buns were nice and soft. The lettuce, tomato, and mayo were fresh and the onion had just enough bite. The fries and tots were fresh and hot with no greasy aftertaste and again our plates were FULL. The tables were clean with full salt, pepper, and napkins. The ketchup bottle was nice and clean as well. Don and Judy's ice cream shop, which is actually inside the convenience store with no seperate entrance is great as well. I was full from the burger and tots but my husband always has room for ice cream. I wish I had remembered to take pictures of the waffle cone full of yummy Butter pecan ice cream. It too was FULL. My husband was gracious enough to share a bite or two and even though I was full the flavor of the ice cream was delicious. If you ever find yourself traveling on Hwy 21 between Independence VA and Wytheville VA, in a beautiful mountain town called Elk Creek is a great place to take a break and grab a bite and...
Read morePlease save yourself from this experience. Called in an order and they said thirty minutes. Granted I got there in 25, but proceeded to wait another thirty minutes while there. Get home ten minutes away and immediately have to put the fries and onion rings in the air fryer because they're limp. Their fish sandwich is disgusting. The philly cheese steak is more reminiscent of dog food. The burger was good, I would recommend it. The one waitress was rude from the start and made no apologies for the extra wait or offered a drink or anything. I recommend you continue to independence or back...
Read moreThis place has the absolute BEST burgers with the most fresh tomatoes I've had since my dad grew them growing up. The pies and those caramel apple cookies are phenomenal. I've lived in South Florida, Denver New York and am currently in Orlando but this place gave me that southern hospitality I'm use to from my home town in Tennessee. It was even nice to see some Grayson County deputies there that my husband had met on his ride along with Grayson County sheriff department and talk to them. Really can't wait to move here. Absolutely love this place. All the food is amazing and...
