This deli always has a much wider variety and higher quality of meats and cheeses available than you would ordinarily expect from such a small-town location.

Cheeses, for example: in addition to the usual suspects (colby, mild cheddar, mozarella, swiss, etc.) you can also get things that are normally hard to find in a small town, like sharp white cheddar or havarti. If they ever went out of business, we'd have to drive thirty minutes each way to get stuff like that, and it wouldn't be the same level of quality even then. I don't know for sure where Phil's gets their cheeses, but my first guess would be Holmes County. They're that good.

The meat selection is similarly diverse, and they also have a selection of specialty breads, typical deli fare (potato salad and whatnot), and assorted other items (candies, chips, sauces, already-made sandwiches, etc.) I believe they do catering as well.

Service is prompt, although lines do form at certain key times (e.g., on Sunday right after church lets out) due to the large number of locals all coming in at the same time. They staff for this, though, and will have three slicers going at once, so the line moves quickly.

Just stopped at Phil's over the noon hour. I love all the great parking that's available. It was very busy, lots of customers, a Frito Lay delivery (we love Lay's) and I even heard one gal with a phone order. Phil, Sue and their entire staff handled it like pro's. My order was done quickly and efficiently. I needed bananas - they had them as well as fresh strawberries, blueberries. Also delicious looking pineapple spears and mixed fruit in the cooler. I like to get the cheese ends from the cooler for my cheesey broccoli soup, the variety makes it delicious. I should never shop hungry.. Got a yummy ham and Swiss sandwich to go as well as a strawberry cheesecake donut. You alI have to try the cookies and donuts! I saw a beautiful arrangement on the counter - turns out it is Sue and Phil's Anniversary. Congrats...

Awesome usually. Today a girl we never seen before waited on us. Freshly dyed blue hair, we could tell because she had blue dye under her finger nails, neck and ears. Then she over charged us, went back in got $3.95 back but after looking into it more we were actually over charged around $9.00 due to her lack of cash register experience. Another lady helped but she was obviously not in a good mood as she was verbally short with us both times we questioned are total........we'll go back for today...
