Update: After writing this review, we were reached out to the owner of Romanelli's to help rectify the scenario. It may have taken this review for it to happen, but none-the-less, they reached out to make good and we appreciate it. They brought lunch to our work for everyone and apologized. We're want to believe this was a very off night and unfortunate timing for all of us.
This is by far one of the worst establishments I have ever given service to. I will preface this review by stating that the food was good, but unfortunately, the rest of the dining experience outweighed the food.
The service at this establishment is deplorable. My company booked a holiday party with their event coordinator over a month before our intended date. When we arrived at the establishment, we quickly learned that there wasn't any parking. Hastily, we tried visiting their website which looks like it wasn't updated in many years and had to end up calling.
From the moment we called, we were instantly put on hold without any hesitation and was on hold for 5 minutes. Normally, I wouldn't make any fuss seeing as this was a Saturday night, but the waitress later on in the night stated how the restaurant had been extremely slow for the past 3 weeks. More on this in a bit.
Once we received communication, we were told to park on the street which was EXTREMELY dangerous since it is a busy road or on the dirt lot next door. I am sorry, I am not looking to have any issue with the mud and the large hole in the ground. Reluctantly, we practically parked on the sidewalk and entered.
Mind you, we had a party of 18 and we had made reservations OVER A MONTH prior. Unfortunately, they were busy and seated parties in the room that we had reserved. This led Romanelli's to seat us in the back of the restaurant that was considered outside. IT WAS FREEZING. A majority of our party wore their winter coats throughout dinner and we constantly complained to which we were told to keep the doors shut. That is great except the one waitress was constantly leaving and arriving which proved the whole door solution useless. At one point, we were trying to justify lighting the Christmas tree on fire because we needed some kinder.
The waitress kindly informed us that she was overworked after being slow for 3 weeks and that she was not only working our party of 18, but also working other tables. That caused her being completely frantic and constantly forgetting different orders. We honestly had people at the table assisting her because we felt bad that she not only had to work our table, but other tables all alone. We were not provided someone who would focus solely on us nor was she provided any assistance.
We had a number of individuals at the table who were always missing a drink or food and it took a good moment for the waitress to establish that the food was no longer available or drinks. This caused a number of people at our party to be without their food or drinks while the rest of us dined around them until they were informed of this.
Normally, I am not one to write reviews because I understand that establishments have off nights. Unfortunately, WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT because despite trying to contact the restaurant or the event coordinator, NO ONE WILL RETURN OUR CALLS BECAUSE THEY ARE AWARE THAT WE ARE UNHAPPY. It is astonishing that an establishment that can accept a bill of over $1,000 can pull this garbage on a company that is trying to hold their annual Christmas party.
Yes, the food was good, but honestly, you can go to many other institutions and receive food just as good, if not better, but also receive quality service that appreciates you servicing their business. I highly recommend anyone thinking about giving them their business to think otherwise and severely question your decisions if you would like to hold a...
Read moreMy wife and I took our son and his wife to the newly updated "279" recently. We'd seen they were trying a new "pub" theme (used to be Romanelli's), and we like pub food and trying out beers etc.
The staff there were friendly, and the service good. The atmosphere didnt really feel all that different from before tho, and the beer selection was fair - not great but not bad. (They do pour an excellent Guinness.) The food: Our initial apps (wings - wood-fired, cheese-steak egg rolls) were delicious. But after that, things were just so-so. Two of us got the Hot Honey Chicken sandwich and while the chicken was good, it was neither spicy nor sweet, so a bit disappointing. Next, one of our party got the BLT with avocado, and after a few bites, he said "I dont think this has avocado". So he checked and it didnt. He showed the waitress and she said "Sorry, i'll go get you some." But when she came back she said "sorry, we're actually all out." Huh? Then she said "is there some way i can make this right for you?" which is nice i guess, but puts the onus on the diner, and we're all half way into our meals at this point. Can he really change his choice? So he said "no, its fine."
Now at this point, i have take some of the blame. I'm not great with dealing such issues, but i really shouldve asked for a manager to at least let someone in management know that the kitchen sent out a sandwich with full knowledge that it was missing a key element. (Were they just hoping we wouldnt notice?) This is wrong. Worse yet, our bill included full price for this item. And i didnt want to be petty and say "hey, can you knock off $5 for the sandwich not being right?" When really, i shouldve realized that the menu item itself was now wrong and they probably should've comped it. Something? (Like i said, i'm pretty lousy with this kinda thing.)
Finally, we also tried the "Pub-cuterie" which may be ok for some, but really only had 3 pieces of cheese on it, and most of the meat was boiled ham or bologna (i think it was bologna?) It did have a big soft pretzel in it that was good, but i def would not order it again. Bottom line: maybe they're still working things out under the new theme? but i doubt we'll...
Read moreDecided to order out tonight. Went online to make sure this place still served the salad my wife and I wanted for dinner. Called ordered two Romanellis Ceasars, drove from Linwood to pick them up, paid and left. Everything seemed fine, especially after I heard the teller give me the total..sounded right. Drove all the way home just to find two basic ceasar salads...dry as could be. I called and asked to speak to the m.o.d on duty. She gave me an excuse for each solution. Oh it's going to take an hour to get you the correct order...mind you it is already 6pm. How about a refund of my $30.39, oh we cant do that unless we take back the salads...really. Best part, when I asked why the bill happened to be so much for two basic ceasars I was told they haven't changed the prices online in some time. Good show guys, good show...
Amended 10/13: I have decided to amend my review because the "pr" team has responded back..3 days later.. First, this had nothing to do with COVID-19. If everything is going "no touch" your internet prices should be 100%correct, mind you your competitors within 20 square miles stopped using actual menus and went to QR codes and internet only..so if anything..again..your behind the 8-ball. Secondly, You could not provided customer satisfaction bc I decided to end the call.. quote "hung up". Let me be very clear to all.of the paying customer out there, I did not hang up. The M.O.D was not able to rectify the situation after I called in any fashion so then I told her we would never order from here again, have a good night, then "hung up". Hopefully you record the calls for training purposes. To think the person writing this response back to me has the backbone to place their incompetence on the customer. Strike 1, the hostess couldnt take the order, strike 2 the order was not only wrong but dry and incorrectly priced, and strike 3 there was absolutely no customer service. Sounds to me like you have a few problems over there including leadership. They specifically wrote back.trying to place the blame on the customer and to look competent. Again that's why this place has a 4.3 and will guarantee that rating drops over the winter months with these kind of...
