Ok so let me start out by just saying WOW!!! For the first time in a long time I am amazed by the not only the level of service exceptional to say the very least but the quality of food is uniquely exquisite. So here we go on my way home from a weekend in Atlantic City New Jersey and my family and I are on our way home and we decide to take one last roll of the dice. We want real food because we're tired of fat food and take out and so we decided we're just going to take a collective gamble on the first place that isn't McDonald's; enter the "Galloway Diner" they were busy at first glance but we were hungry and so why not right? Here's the thing though from the moment I walked in the door to inquire about the estimated wait time to the second I walked out of the door the customer service was fairytale like. This is a place where the customer absolutely matters the owner isn't some guy that's locked in his office waiting to see how the day is going to turn out. He is the captain of his ship and his crew follows him proudly and with confidence. He came to our table and helped to get us settled in, he worked closely with his beyond extremely extraordinary staff to make sure that my family and I were not only well taken care of but that we were pleased to be there as well our server was present for the duration of our stay but to my amazement her team was ready with the assist to make sure she wouldn't drop the ball. The food was delightful. Everyone was made fresh the lettuce on my salivating delicious double bacon cheese burger was crisp and crunchy, my fries were tasty as were the golden curly fries that i dipped in the creamy brown gravy. My drink was never empty and when the check came I was more than happy to give a 20% tip because the bill was beyond reasonable. So if you are ever in Atlantic city and you want great food at a sure bet of a price served by a team of people that give you hope in a world where Covid-19 is taking not only that but everything else we look forward to the Galloway Diner is most certainly the place to go. If i could give them 10,000 stars I would with out question. Hats off...
Read moreMy husband and I had our first experience at the Galloway Diner to enjoy a brunch out with our kids, sadly it wasn't the experience we we're hoping for. Food was average, nothing spectacular, but good. The thing that really sets diners apart (especially in NJ where they can be found in plenty) is the service ... When I go to a diner I EXPECT a friendly encounter, that was not the case here. We received the server Jennifer, a middle aged woman, whose accent stated she was a native to NJ. After waiting for 15 minutes without seeing a server we received no apology, or warm welcoming - we were made to feel incompetent about a menu we had never viewed before when ordering a simple BLT, which she kept referring to a club, making us second guess what we we're ordering, and when we wanted to confirm she actually snapped at us very rudely, she was just straight up RUDE. Reaffirming my thoughts about New Jersey residents. Nasty, rude woman who needs to remember she's in the service industry and should strive to improve on her table side manner. I especially loved how the elderly couple seated behind us who had to wait only 3 minutes to be waited on received a profuse apology from her and a more personalized, thoughtful service ... What the hell is that? Was she really trying to stereotype? We tip very well, and it's her loss, they must pool tips there or something because no f*s were given concerning the service we received. Terrible, I won't be back just because of that horrible rude woman and the other mean mugger I saw helping other tables. Improve your service guys! You just lost...
Read moreIf your bananas foster shows up with a housefly in it, the choices given to you by the owner will be: A. I'll make a new one, or B. You can skip it altogether and I'll gladly take it off the check.
Here's the message I received. If something that happened, which was outside of the control of your waitress and creates a negative experience for you, the restaurant is going to make zero effort to make up for the experience, leaving me with only one course of action, which is to obliterate the waitress's tip.
I paid my check, gladly tipped 20%, and only afterward did I ask about how The Fly was addressed by management. The manager at the desk acknowledged the issue was brought to Nick, identified as the owner, who declined to offer so much as an apology, leaving the waitress in the wind to hope she isn't going to be working my table for free. She did great, the rest of the food was without issue. When I asked if it was appropriate for some sort of compensation for the experience, I was told since we asked for the dish to be remade, it was appropriate to leave it on the check. If I had declined to have a second one made, only then would it be removed from the check.
So you're telling me I won't get charged for food I don't order? How did I get so lucky? What's the...
