Where should I start? Growing up in Cape May County, knowing good seafood is a right of passage. The food..Mediocre at best! Oysters and clams on the half shell were good. Octopus on mixed greens was ok but tasted like too much vinegar. Filet and crab mushroom sauce was good, green beans came out no butter or seasoning, garlic mashed were good. Why I ever opted for sushi rolls at a restaurant like this was my first mistake. You can add a side salad and 2 sides for an additional $5.00. But only the sides they allow not anything off the list on the menu. The garlic roasted asparagus wasn't allowed but steamed green beans with no seasoning were an option. The only reason I can comment on the bland green beans and the garlic mashed was because I tasted my sister's, mine for the additional $5 were never brought to the table even when the waitress was reminded. Another one of us also did not get the mashed and had to ask for them as well. The order of fried shrimp were good but the portion of french fries on an adult platter was the same size as a child's platter. Cosmo was good, Old Fashioned was too syrupy with a single crushed cherry and the Malibu Bay Breeze was alright. Service...we had to ask way too many times for refills. Nothing was refilled without us asking atleast twice and we never even got one of the beverages. The adult ended up finishing one of the children's drinks. Atmosphere...don't even get me started on the red and white checked table cloths or the fact that the chairs have rips in them. I'm hoping the atmosphere on a Saturday evening in the Summer warrant all the suggestions to go here. Service..We tipped 20% because we would never slight a waitress because of food she didn't prepare. But service also was lacking. I'm sure some love this place, we did not, and will not be returning. Lesson learned.

I am not a fan of fish or seafood. I was at an event and was invited to dinner with a group of friends. This didn't present a problem they had other food on the menu. They place was full when we arrived around 8 pm. We had a 30 to 40 minute wait. They had an area near the bar with tables that allowed us to wait and enjoy television and have a drink. We were seated, a party of 10, and our waitress came out immediately to pass out menus and take drink orders. She returned without too long of a delay ( remember the place was packed) delivered drinks and took our orders. The food was served without anyone complaining about it taking too long. That's pretty cool because there's usually one person in a group that's always complaining. I ordered the Cheeseburger with Bacon and fried onions, a side of potato chips and coleslaw. The burger was average, the homemade potato chips would've been more impressive if they were store bought and the coleslaw was hospital/nursing home quality. I didn't expect a great cheeseburger at a place called Oyster Creek Restaurant. I got an average burger, I picked at the rest of the food. I should've ordered a baked potato, they looked good, instead of chips. The coleslaw was the typical throwaway trash that many restaurants purchase. Maybe customers wouldn't throw it away if restaurants would put forth effort to improve its quality. If my friends wanted to go back I would order chicken and a baked potato, it has to be better than an average tasting cheeseburger. If you enjoy seafood go to this restaurant. The service was good. My friends loved their food. I refuse to trash the place because I didn't enjoy a dish that isn't in their culinary lane.

From the moment you arrive by car or boat you are transported to traditional South Jersey. The dining room is your grandmother's summer cottage grown way bigger...heavy wood paneling, checked tablecloths, frilly curtains and all. We had so may yummy things I can only hit the highest spots. Start with a leap into memories with oyster crackers and horseradish...I could just see my mom there enjoying them with me...crunchie crackers and horseradish warm but not hot enough to burn. Now my appetizer of onion rings and mushrooms and mozzarella sticks was good but OH Wow the marinara that came with them was outstanding...deeply tomato, slight tanginess and garlicky garlicky garlicky. Made me determined to order pasta next time. I had oysters which were good and I loved the wild rice side...perfectly chewy, dark, and gently spicy with Old Bay I think. The hubbs completely chose the right dinner...the Fisherman's Combo. Nice fresh flounder filet....a shrimp stuffed with crabmeat that was the size of a drumstick and crazy good....a deviled clam [I'd never had one...wow...clam forward, creamy bread and egg filling and quite spicy. I wanted more than a taste!]...and sea scallops. Those scallops were fit for a Queen....big and meaty...fresh, as in caught this morning...with taste and texture that would make you forget the rest of the world for a while. Did I forget corn on the cob sweeter than cake? All the employees ran at top speed all evening but never lost their good humor. A thoroughly wonderful meal...maybe if the Jersey Devil, who is said to live nearby, ate here he'd be a happier guy.

We moved to this area about a little over a year ago. The first time we went there the food was wonderful but our server wasn't so nice. Went again bc we really loved the sea food everything was great. There was a very large crowd there as usual. But the wait was only 5 or 10 minutes. Which was nice. We ordered lots of stuff . But this time the food came out very fast. But it was only half cooked. We didn't complain. Bc were not those type of people. And this time our server was so sweet. Just wish they would have taken the time necessary to deliver the dinner fully cooked. However we took most our food home in a box and finished cooking it at home . And was just find. The only thing we felt like. Was that they were more concerned with getting people in and out as quickly as possible. But it can hurt the business. Bc I'm not sure if we will be returning there. Also the high tide was coming in very fast and you have to be careful where you park. I believe it was the owner or manager who came in the dinning room to give us a fair warning to move our cars . Which the sea water was very close to our car. I had on brand new cow boots and in another few minutes they would have been destroyed if he didn't give us that warning. So I was grateful for his attention to the tide. Im not say not to go there. Bc the first time the food was amazing. Just sorry we felt like we were being rushed in and out. I hope management gets to see this. Bc they have a great product. Just need to make sure it cooked . I wouldn't mind a little wait to have it done properly. I wish them best of luck...
