This was our second time going to KC Wine Co, we were waiting in the parking lot, "tailgating" with a bottle of wine and some cheese that we brought, while we waited for the main area to open and for a friend to arrive. It was not KC Wine Company's wine or cheese. We were polite and not being bothersome to anyone and planned to spend the majority of the afternoon inside the wine venue.   About 10 minutes after the venue opened, we were approached by 2 women who did not identify themselves, apparently workers, the first lady that spoke with us was firm but not overly rude and spoke with us about what the  liquor license requirements were and that any wine not produced by KC Wine Company was not permitted to be consumed on the premises.  We politely said we weren't aware, and the second woman assumedly an employee, abruptly and rudely interjected with "there are signs everywhere and it's all over our Facebook page".  Honestly we weren't aware, and later while leaving we looked for what signs explained liquor license laws or stated no outside wine.  We found one sign in the vehicle entry that stated Winery Etiquette and stated no outside alcohol.  So it was there and we missed it, so be, it our fault.  What really showed us the caliber of the employees, and really pushed me to write this review was what went in inside the winery.  Unbeknownst to us, our abherent behavior must have been a hot topic of discussion. While patronizing KC Wine Co and making purchases inside, we overheard a different employee joyfully ask the lady that was rude during the first contact in the parking lot, "did you get them kicked out?".  At this point is was apparent our business was not valued and honest mistakes are not acceptable.  We have recommended this venue to numerous people in the past and had plans to attend in the future.  None of these will happen in the future.  We cut our visit shorter than planned and found Stone Pillar Vineyard nearby.  We spent the remainder of our planned outing there without incident.  We were treated as a valued customers and enjoyed getting to know the humble but attentive staff and will recommend Stone Pillar in the future.  While we understand policies and processes are in place for a reason, to assume people are purposely breaking your etiquette and treating customers rudely especially when they are being polite in return is...

Posting a review for a KC Wine Co event held at their KC Pumpkin Patch for visibility and clarity as the event we attended at the pumpkin patch is advertised on the KC Wine Co website. Our weekend outing was a deceptive experience made worse by a lack of customer care. My partner and I are new to Kansas were excited to attend this “sunflower festival” as seen on the KC Wine Co website. Firstly, this was not a festival and there were very few sunflowers in the tiny sunflower patch. Secondly, the website shows only adults at the venue, but there is nothing for adults here. This is for parents of young children who are looking to consume alcohol while their kids play. This is a complete mismatch from what is advertised - an adult festival - as seen in the online photos. Once we had paid at the venue (which was $5 per person more than online and not disclosed), we stepped from the barn to the back. We were immediately disappointed as we saw very few people - all of whom were parents with children - and that the attractions (e.g. slides) were for children. After less than five minutes of entering the event and seeing that it was not as advertised, we asked for a refund from the worker whom we had purchased tickets and whom we asked to describe what the event was before purchasing the said tickets. Rather than agreeing to a refund, she suggested we go to their winery up the road. We would have been happy to do so and likely purchase bottles in addition to any tastings had she complied with our refund request. We did not go to the winery as we did not want to spend any more time or money with this company. We did have one cider and one beer in the barn during our visit and noticed that the barn decor was still set up for weddings (chandeliers and white cloth draping). Similarly, their outdoor space still had two dinosaurs set up from a previous event as well. It seems the venue was as confused as its staff as to what event type and audience they were targeting. Based on this experience, I strongly do not recommend you patron KC Wine Co or KC...

I have a wedding scheduled in November of 2020 and I highly DO NOT recommend booking with this vendor as they will NOT postpone my wedding into 2021 during a global pandemic. Their exact words to me "its legal to have a wedding in Kansas right now" but we don't know what November will bring and a room of 200 people is not safe. Flu season is upon us so it is only going to get worse. I even explained how half of my family lives in PA and isn't able to come due to Kansas being on their list of states that they have to quarantine from if they travel here and they will not budge. They told me they wont schedule anyone into 2021 and from a business stand point, makes no sense at all. If you book weddings why won’t you postpone us?! In my eyes it is is completely unprofessional and also makes NO SENSE why they won’t postpone us to a later date when it’s SAFE and my FAMILY can actually be there. They had no care or empathy to my situation at all. I do NOT recommend having your wedding here as the owners don't listen to you when it comes to what YOU need for your special day. They don't care that my own maid of honor wont be able to attend cause she is also in Philadelphia, or my brothers, aunts and uncles won’t be able to see me get married. All they care about is money. All they said was "We can add more tables for social distancing" its impossible to socially distance when you're dancing. Their venue is beautiful and we really wanted to use them until they denied POSTPONING us. Also, they wont reimburse us any of our money. If you want to do business with people who actually listen to you and care about your wedding and the health and safety of your friends and family, do not contact KC Wine CO. EVERY other venue in the KC area we contacted is postponing BUT them. Highly...
