I stumbled on this place on my trip over the sonora pass. The smell drew me in from across the street. I glanced over the menu. Got a trio plate. Brisket. Pork and sausage. Fries and beans. In a to go container. The smokey flavor on the bbq sauce was my favorite thing. Brisket was a roast. Lacking. And actually hard to chew. . Pork loin was dry. I think I was kind of thinking it was going to be pulled pork, but the loin threw me off. The sausage was delicious. My fries were swimming in sauce. So ehh. The beans were their take on a Texas ranch bean. A little spicy. A little smokey. Maybe even some beer in them. Delicious. Corn bread was sweetest. If I was blind folded I would have thought it was a muffin. That being said... I would actually go back and order something else. I could tell it was just what I ordered. I would deff go back and try some chicken. Ribs or a burger. And ask for my fries and sides all separate. Great flavor on the sauce. They either make their own liquid smoke or cook their sauce on the smoker. I'm not a bbq sauce fan but I could eat this one all the time. I'm sad I didn't order better, so I'll be back. ! I love the views and atmosphere outside....
Read moreThe people here are very friendly and the atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. I would return here if I were in the area.
Why only a 3? I can enjoy a restaurant, but I still want to be impressed with the food. I ordered a platter with different kinds of meat and thought the meat was cooked perfectly, but then completely ruined by the sauce. Good meat has a great natural flavor that should be appreciated only with a dry rub or light sauce. The sauce flavor, however, was strong. Yes the sauce tastes good, but they should sell it to restaurants that don't cook their meat as well. I also don't think I got a $21 value that I paid for. I probably got $2-4 of meat had I bought it at the store and made it myself. That's a huge markup.
The side salad was a very non event, but not a huge surprise there with most...
Read moreThis place is excellent! I've eaten there several times, and make a point of stopping if I'm in the area. In fact I've gone (way) out of my way just to eat there on at least one of my visits. The food is excellent, the portions are just right, and the service is great. I enjoy sitting out front absorbing the view of the mountains and the open space to the east while I eat. I noticed there was mention of the prices being high. It's true, it's not an inexpensive place to eat. But when one considers the location, how far everything must be shipped, and what it must cost to continually have supplies sent so they're fresh, the prices seem very reasonable. I look forward to my next visit, and miss not being able to get there during the winter, as I live on the west side...
