SPOT ON! This is your taste of Philly. Although I'm from a different inner city (NYC), we did have authentic Philly cheese steaks with the cheese wiz that many venders provided. The owner is passionate about his home too. Alas, you had to show some toughness in the inner city, but it wasn't all bad that TV and movies may distort it. Most of us stay for generations and many of us work for city service. However, there is a major problem. We order two large Italians and one large south Philly cheese steak came to around $57.00 with tax. Comfort food is comfort food, a pizza is a pizza and a sandwich is a sandwich. Like the bagel shop who makes pizzas in the evening and charge over $20 for personal pies, it's too much to be a regular. Sandwiches are made to be eaten on the go and at an affordable price. When I was on the force, when a call came we had to stop and stuff it in the bag because it may be life and death; sometimes chuck the rest because who knows. It's a steak sandwich, nevertheless it's just a sandwich. It's not an art like subway makes it, it takes a competent cook to find the right quality ingredients and place or lightly cook together. Competent cooks are a quarter a dozen (inflation). I really want to support a fellow "urbanner", but not at these prices. I can't afford to be a regular. Again, it's just a sandwich. This will be a rare treat or a find a place that charges a...
Read moreIt tasted like hamburger helper on bread. I’d give no stars if I could. $10 for a regular sized sandwich no drink no chips just a sandwich and it literally looks and tastes like hamburger helper with some onions and cheese on a bun. My suggestion would be to go somewhere else. The price is way too high for what you get. I paid $20 for 2 sandwiches and neither my wife nor I ate it. We took 1 bite and fed it to the dog. I’ve found over the years the hole in the wall restaurants typically have some of the best food but not this one. Would not recommend this place. The store is not clean, the trash can was leaking all over the floor, the food did not smell good. I shouldn’t have ordered and just walked out but I figured I’d give it a chance. Never again. Zaxbys had a better Philly cheesesteak than this place. The food truck may be better but speaking on my experience with the brick and mortar location, it was...
Read moreJackie was super sweet, she gave me some recommendations to help since it was my first time. Chef Brandon 10/10. I ordered the South Philly w/ provolone cheese w/ all the toppings & house philly sauce on the side, 6pc Crack wings (extra crack), & fries.
Philly was flavorful & seasoned well, not soggy at all. I love an extra crunch & spice so I topped mine with jalapeños. I’m also huge on sauces & most Philly places don’t offer one besides ranch, so I was happy when Jackie recommended there’s. The sauce was really really good, it added a nice smokey flavor to it.
The wings were a dry rub, fresh & crispy. The crack seasoning was crackin’!!!!
Fries, think of five guys. Freshly skinned potatoes fried & seasoned just right.
All really really good, flavorful, & freshly served. I...
