Bala Ice Cream — Restaurant in Georgia

I wanted to share my experience visiting “Bala Ice Cream” off hwy 61 north in Dallas.

The shop is clean and well lit. Inspection score was excellent. Menu boards were easy to read and everything was priced. My pet peeve is seeing menu items without prices! Staff was super friendly and never rushed us, they even offered samples!

They have excellent ice cream, but for me the shaved ice was the real surprise! Not to be confused with Sno-Cones (which they also sell), shaved ice is a frozen flavored milk based mixture. It’s frozen into a large cylinder that’s shaved to order. I had the rainbow version, with several flavors combined. Fluffy ribbons of mild light flavor! It’s topped with your choice (so many options!) of real fruit purée syrup.

We are so excited to have this shop right around the corner, and can’t wait to try...

Absolutley outstanding ice cream here in a location where I never thought I'd find a selection like they have. I got a beautiful Thai milk tea shaved ice drizzled in condensed milk with coffee jellies and my partner got their Cookie Monster ice cream. Huge servings too! I didn't think I'd find a ice cream place like this outside of Duluth or Buford Highway. I feel like home here. The inside was immaculate too and service was super friendly, letting us sample a taro and brown sugar boba milk tea that was insane. You'd have to be out of your mind to go out to one of the boring chain joints instead of eating here. I will be coming...

Bala Ice Cream shop is an unexpected local treasure, this small business is run by a very kind man that works everyday to scoop us the yummiest ice cream! They have so many unique flavors it may take 1 or 2 or 10 samples to decide on what you want to try this time! The shop is small and in a strip with a gas station convenient store, it doesn’t have all the commercialized bells & whistles in the interior design but don’t let that deter you from some great ice cream cones!
