Read moreWas coming to Dublin for an overnight stay and came across Jack's searching online. It intrigued me and we decided to give it a shot. The drive to the restaurant was a bit concerning. We were not sure a decent restaurant was going to be on the other end.😅 It's flanked on one side by the river and the other side by a beautiful (yes, I said beautiful) swamp. The setting was actually quite perfect for the place. My husband loved that they brought a full pitcher of sweet tea and left it on the table. We were asked if we wanted any pickles and or onions. We assumed they meant fried until we saw a waitress walk by with a bowl of uncooked pickle chips and a bowl of raw onion rings and set them on a neighboring table. I had no idea that was a "thing"! I had a "Swamp Plate" that had gator, frog legs, cat fish and shrimp. My husband had the two quail platter which he enjoyed. My niece had the fried shrimp platter. It was all good. Their slaw is very different than any I've had, but was quite good. The service was wonderful! The most genuinely welcoming staff I may have ever encountered. So glad we took the ride out. This was a super fun experience. I'll be back to try that...

However my last visit as of June 5, 2025 will no doubt be my last visit. On the above date I attempted to call in a carryout order as I was leaving Dublin City hall. An employee answered the phone "Jack's, can you please hold". I held and held and listened to her cash out as many seven customers. I held until I actually reached the restaurant and walked up to the cashier. "Hi can I help you?" I replied "i'm still hold so you can hang up the phone". She looks surprised and offers no apology for the wait. I should've walked out at that point, however the service just got ruder. I'm certain my money will be better spent at another establishment going forward. I won't tolerate anyone's disrespect where I'm spending money. But not to worry because that was the last visit of me and my family and I plan to share my experience. Work on your customer service for all patrons, ...
