Extremely disappointed in a Christmas gift order for friends I placed at Lanes in December 2023. After a lengthy conversation with Lisa about sending a gift basket -what would and would not fit in the basket because of how items would be arranged - the items were sent in a regular styrofoam filled box without any regard to the “gift” order. When I reached out to complain, the response was to put the blame on me because of the items I had ordered even though in the conversation I never agreed in any way to exclude the gift basket because of any items. I even had to ask for a receipt to be emailed or I would not have received one. Lisa told me I was not charged for a basket (which I was not) and I explained to her this was her error, not mine. At no time during the initial order was I led to believe the basket would be excluded. I was then sent to a manager who again explained to me I was not charged for a basket which I had to also explain to her, that was not the point. I was specifically routed to Lisa BECAUSE I wanted to send a GIFT BASKET and what I ordered was not what was sent. After a 20 min discussion she finally offered compensation after I mentioned I would be posting a review of my experience - until this was mentioned, no compensation was offered for their error. She offered a gift card in the amount I ordered that could be used ONLY in the store - not online. After meeting up with my friends after Christmas I was informed that the bread included in the basket was opened, stale, and not edible and given that their disappointment mirrored mine, I chose to return the gift card. Neither our friends nor my husband and I - after 10+ years of stopping in Lanes while traveling to and from Ohio - will be not be doing business with Lane Southern Orchard...

We used to visit Lane's frequently for lunch but it has been a few years since we have visited for anything but ice cream. I had family in town recently and took them to Lane's after explaining how great their food was and how there was a playground for the kids as well. Not to mention the delicious ice cream! Unfortunately I felt rather sheepish after seeing the exorbitant price increases and what we got for what we paid. The portions were incredibly small for the prices. One of my family members ordered coleslaw as a side which came out with only a small ramekin half-filled. We asked if we could at least get the small half-filled ramekin filled with coleslaw, but were told no, that the $2.50 we paid extra for a side (because the already pricey sandwiches do not come with a side) only pays for a small half-scoop of coleslaw. Everyone in our party paid extra for a side with their meal, and everyone of us were disappointed with either the quantity or quality (or both). I was thankful that everyone was pretty happy with their dessert after such a disappointing meal. Ultimately, I was embarrassed for recommending Lane's and will not make the same mistake again. Also worth mentioning, the staff was not friendly like they used to be, and no one seemed happy to be there. To be fair, their ice cream was decent, and the store area is ok to peruse through. However, the high prices for food, merchandise, and peaches will keep this local away.
