This was my first visit to Oinkers and I definitely plan to return.
The aesthetics inside the dining room aren't the greatest. Clearly they scoured every yard sale and flea market for about a 30 mile radius to gather there haphazard collection of chairs for the dining room.
That being said, people don't go here to view there collection of chairs but for the great food! Their portions are incredibly generous, and each of their sides are prepared in-house from whole ingredients.
Barbecue restaurants in Rabun County have struggled in the recent past. Scooters, Piggles, and Wicked Pig are just the most recent casualties. Oinkers has kept their pricing reasonable and their overhead cost manageable and that is why they continue to thrive where others did not. (Plus they didn't build their restaurant in a floodplain either, and that certainly helps.)
They have a busboy here who operates at warp speed and he doesn't miss a speck of dirt on the tables as he manages to turn them in under 30 seconds after the party has left the building.
If I had one disappointment, they seem to be one of these BBQ places that sees no value in a mustard-based BBQ sauce. They also put three nondescript bottles on each table, unlabeled, leaving it to the table guest to discern if that particular bottle contains sweet, vinegar-based, or...
Read moreWe ordered ribs and asked the lady if they were a goos size serving.she said yes there a good pound and half of meet.but when we got them there were 90 percent Gisele and bone.there were less meet then what would be on a small pulled pork sandwich. The flavor was decent nothing to brag about but between the four of our plates was probably meet for one person.not at all happy with the quality of ribs.when you pay 14.50 per order of ribs plus drinks you should be getting a quality rib.not the cheapest ribs Sampson walmart sales.this was our second time eating there.witch the first was not good I order pulled pork and there were three of us then and we left our food on our plates and left without. Eating it was terrible. So thinking give them one more try and try the ribs but they was just a bad quality ribs.so think twice before eating here.for the money and quality of meet I would rate it a 3 in a scale from one to 10.everyone is nice but they really need to buy higher quality meets for the prices...
Read moreWill always be one of my fave hole in the wall bbq joints, with every bit of meat and sides coming out darn delicious ever since I was a little girl! Been visiting on my mountain trips since I was a little tike and it's definitely a place you should stop in and indulge in quality meat, quick and kind service, and tasty sides/apps. Their onion ring batter is superb and pork rinds the best I've ever eaten, so dang good! I've had ribs, brisket, chicken tenders, pork, almost everything on the menu over the years and have never been disappointed. I forgot our waiter's name on the last visit and there is also a gentleman that busses tables with a quickness I have never seen! He darts around the dining room and turns over a table in what seems like 20 seconds flat. You will know who I am talking about when you see him zip through the place! He is exceptional at his job, and you can tell the energy he puts into his tasks. This place is no frills, but darn good...
