Is this place a front? Because I genuinely don't understand how they're in business.
This was our first and last time eating here, which is a shame because the food was good, although it is hard to mess up waffles and eggs. As mentioned in other reviews, the service we received was pretty terrible. The owner was our server and she was rude from the start. We weren't greeted when we walked in, just stood there waiting to find out if we should seat ourselves until another customer near the door kindly told us to just sit wherever. When the owner came over, she said in an annoyed way, "Know what you want to drink?" We gave our orders, she didn't say a word, just walked away. The rest of our interactions went the same way. If we thanked her for something, she didn't respond. When I finished giving my food order, she didn't say a word, just turned to my husband and stared at him. She seemed like she was mad we came in and it was hands down the most uncomfortable experience I've ever had at a restaurant. What was even more baffling was that when more customers entered who were apparently her friends, she transformed into a different person and became chatty and friendly with them. At one point she didn't say a word to us as she dropped our silverware onto the table and continued the conversation with her friends, yelling over her shoulder across the dining room. There was one other table there aside from her friends and we saw she was similarly rude to them. It was bizarre. Why open a restaurant if you resent people coming in? Between the reviews (which I read after the fact) and our experience, I understand now why the place was dead during what should've been a weekend breakfast rush.
I waited tables for many years and would never think of treating customers like this. I'm shocked she gets enough business to keep the lights on.
Anyway, if you're looking for Southern hospitality, or just basic manners in general, I'd go somewhere else. Being mad at your customers for giving you business is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a place that serves old people food. It cost me $17 for a tea, two 'chicken tenders', a cornbread muffin, fries and potato wedges. The buffalo chicken tenders was listed at $12.50 on the menu. There were two tenders, each a nice size. They were tender and moist and filling. The buffalo sauce tasted more like Frank's red hot sauce than a buffalo sauce. The fries, wedges and muffin were so bland; I don't even think the fries had any salt on them. They were incredibly fresh and steaming when we got to the car but they were certainly not seasoned at all. Even the cornbread muffin had no flavor but dry, if dry was a flavor. The sweet tea was fine. It wasn't super sweet but it wasn't weak either, and they gave us a decent sized cup. Between the husband and myself the tea was the best thing we got.
Very little of what we saw on the menu was less than $10. We ordered one buffalo chicken tender plate and a sweet tea to-go.
The waitress seemed unhappy or bored. Maybe she just has RBF and I misunderstood the situation. She wasn't rude just kinda had a vibe that said she didn't like how we looked. The husband and I have tried coming in multiple times, but always seem to stop by when the place is closed. When we got there it was empty.
We did not have to wait a really long time for the food. It all looked and tasted fresh. The decor and general vibe of the place is Grandma and Grandpa eat here cause the food is easy on the dentures and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood wasnāt bad. We got breakfast. I asked for my bacon crispy but it came out floppy. The gravy was good but Iām pretty sure was over a canned biscuit. Pancake was decent. They apparently donāt have any butter in the restaurant just little packets of margarine. Itās the service that was spectacularly terrible. The server (which I gathered might be the owner) was annoyed we were there. She never smiled once. Never greeted us. Just stared at us in a creepy kind of way. She sat at a table talking with her friends talking. My husband ran out of coffee. I tried to get her attention. She looked right at me as Iām holding his coffee cup and pointing at it but then went back to her conversation. Then when we went to pay she could tell I was upset and said āDid you want somethingā. I said āyeah he wanted coffee a while agoā but she didnāt respond at all. Just gave us the total. I seriously think this has to be a front for something. Thereās no way sheās still in business. Unless she just handpicks her friends to be nice to. We had such high hopes. But she went out of her way to act annoyed. Itās really a cute little place. The cook came out and was super sweet. Maybe someone else will take over and we can have a nice little breakfast spot. But she definitely acts like she hates the restaurant business. Guess weāll travel to Cleveland when we want a...
