Wes-Man’s Restaurant — Restaurant in Georgia

I reallllllly wanted to like this place. Even have been several times over the last couple years, just hoping one day it would be everything everyone else says it is. I mean, seriously, you have no idea how much I wanted them to change my mind. My daughter gets the country fried steak and gravy and loves it. But to me, the gravy tastes like it's made from a packet.

I've tried several different things. BBQ pork chops were just pork chops with a glob of bbq sauce on them. The catfish, which I think is breaded in bread crumbs, was just barely ok. It didn't taste muddy, it was but really slimy, like it had been frozen and unfrozen a couple times. All the veggies seem to come from can and aren't really seasoned. The corn bread....just don' get it. Being from the south, cornbread is pretty important. Theirs is kinda sorta like ho cakes, but I imagine there would be more flavor in cardboard.

The service here is ALWAYS stellar. The girl's couldn't be sweeter. I REALLLLLY, really wish this place was a down home, handmade southern kinda restaurant, but it's just like they're callin it in....no effort in making a stick to your ribs, comforting southern meal. I'll still go back....because like I said, I'm determined to see what others see. I just love this place and it's people.....just not the...

A rustic looking place with great burgers and fantastic service.

The above makes up for the below and is why I'd certainly return if I were in the area.

The chair I was very well broken in. It was like I was on the padded chair frame. People with hemorrhoids would not need the donut. I wasn't uncomfortable by any means but some may be. One could see the bench seats had the bottoms busted out. I can't imagine some of those spots were comfortable. I get this place probably barely survived covid but seating in this place is so worn it had to have stated well before then. I get not having funds for replacement but repair isn't that hard nor expensive.

Oh! And go to the bathroom elsewhere before stopping here. The door is technically as wide as it's supposed to be but there's a table and bench right against it so the door is partially blocked. If that booth had 4 seated, you'd have to reach past someone's face to turn the knob. The bonus to being that person is that it's a quick hop in there if needed. The toilet also has a full round seat instead of the U-seat public restrooms are...

Cool little " hole in wall " country restaurant. The staff was great and the food came out fast. I ordered the fried porkchops , cornbread fritter , pinto's , mac n cheese bites & mashed potatoes with brown gravy for chops & potatoes . The porkchops were huge . Two big center cut thick chops from the tenderloin breaded and golden fried. They were good. The pinto's were beyond a doubt canned with absolutely no flavor other than plain " out of the can " flavor they have. The fritter also didn't have much flavor . Mash potatoes with brown gravy was good probably the gravy. Those mac n cheese bites were just not that good . I only ate one. Most everyone in the place was eating their hamburgers and there was one with a BLT I believe. Cool place , food was half and half but let me say my standards are high as I cook a lot .
